nobody loves me...
HE'S JUST A POOR BOY,
FROM A POOR FAMILY!
Spare him his life from this monstrosity!
Easy come easy go - will you let me go?

ahem. first you need to decide where the light source(s) is. then you darken the sides of the objects that aren't in contact with the light source. A relatively easy lighting solution is to simply imagine that the light is on the right or left only. then you can simply darken in the left side of each part (individually) of the object. It can be tricky, because you might have to think in 3-D. i don't know how far along you are in art classes, but you could always turn down the lights, grab a flashlight or lighter, and hold it up to carious objects to see how the shading appears. good luck
i guess i already reached the point of one-scource-light...so i shall try the multiple lights thingy

yeah, your light source is a little skewed, but I like this a lot! :) The shoulders seem a liiitle small, but maybe that's because he's emaciated (being poor and everything). I like the tint of green (it's just a tint) he has to him...and the blue of his hair. and his right cheek (our left) is shaded SO beautifully.....awww...makes him so pretty.
