although not actually pointillism, it's very good for a first digital drawing. I think rather than a background it'd look interesting if you could make the eye be the center peice of a design of some sort that filled the drawing area.

i know but the shading sort of is i guess.... XD i couldn't figure out how to make it smooth

Yeah, the shading in the eye is sort of like pointillism. It's a pretty good eye, though :3

Since you used Lascaux, it may help to read this about it to figure out some of the tools, or just go by trial and error.
