The change of name from LiveScript to JavaScript happened at roughly the time that Netscape was including support for Java technology in its Netscape Navigator browser. The choice of name proved to be a source of much confusion. There is no real relation between Java and JavaScript; their similarities are mostly in syntax (that is, both derived from C); their semantics are quite different, notably their object models are unrelated and largely incompatible.
Javascript has nothing to do with Java. If your Java is acting weird just go here and try downloading it again, it'll let you know if you have everything up to date or not. Dunno what you mean by "the tutorials aren't there".

x___x Same thing happened to me.. So I saw this, and I deleted my Java and reinstalled it, and it still won't work.
Edit: When you try to draw, there says there is a setup tutorial.. This is what it says for me: Java must be installed and enabled to use this applet. Please refer to our Java setup tutorial for more information.

make sure you've uninstalled ALL copies of java before installing a new one.

I found out what the problem was with mine. I had some spyware on my computer, and I downloaded this popup blocker trial thing and it also killed spyware or something, and it made the java work, plus the popups stopped and it let me finally change my homepage, finally. =D WEE WOO
