Hmm....I know it didn't take quite as long as most of my pics here (which is in that 10+ hours range I think).I'd say maybe 5-7 hours maybe?But I have this friend in psychology class who also likes art and has a good eye with what to look at, so she helped me some on what to fix.I owe her some thanks too :).

Well, I dunno how well using colored pencils on top of graphite is anyway.But I'm pretty sure it'd look nicer if you did the whole thing with colors alone in which my case, I'd have to start from scratch again.

Thanks, but I think other than the nose length, there isn't anything wrong with the nose as I double-checked carefully(I dunno, maybe there's something there you see, but I don't? Could you point it out more specifically if I gave you the link to the reference? :) ).But the crookedness of the nose is in the picture, so I tried to emphasize such imperfections to make the picture seem more natural.I also left out the very fine details in the collar to keep the focus off his clothes and more to the face.

I'd also like to tell everyone (not directed at any specific person) at this time, that even if you are doing photo realism, certain touches you add to them is part of making it a piece of art.Just cause they may not be obvious to the eye, doesn't mean they aren't there :).

As for the request, I'm sure I could draw that, as long as I don't go blind first, hehe... :P(don't worry, I knew you were kidding ;)

really neat drawing. Ummm I have a few things to point out that I'd hope will help you out. The 1st thing that seems a bit weird is the eyes. They seem a little flat. Maybe some shading at the top,bottom and of course edges, to emphasize the roundness will help. I know eyes are an important factor when doing a portrait. I'd also suggest working on consistent shading (mainly the hair, but i dunno maybe you were going for that style?) anyways, overall its a great portait. My fav part has to be the mouth. hope it helps...a little.

Ah, thanks.That's the kinda criticism I was lookin' for.Yeah, I worked on the eyes even after I submitted this one.The whiteness bothered me so.And you're right, I shoulda taken more time with the hair to keep a consistency to it, but since the photo had it jet black, I had an urge to just scribble and color it in.I did try cross-hatching some after I saw that it looked messy, but it only helped to a certain extent.So yeah, I'll keep those things in mind for next time.Thanks a bunch.

Wait, maybe not the next one since it's almost done too....so the next next one :).But I'm sure I can try harder on the eyes at least.It'll be a portrait of Steve Vai for any fans out there.
