I think that the colors you have going on with the figure, since they're all greyish/muted colors, are looking good with the backrgound. Whatever you do with the background I think you should keep it generally that same shade of grey to keep that color balance there, and also that the colors on the figure should stay about the same as they are.

Yes, I did plan to keep going with stone-like colors for the first figure, but I have something else planned for the other figure... ^.^
