Have you ever wanted that drawing just a little better?
A little less... rushed? Or.... may be it's as simple as a person to look at a picture of yours? You have came to the right place. Yes, ladies and Gentlemen, I have been bugged by crappy pictures, have you? Ever thought of trying to help them? Well, if your answer is yes, please read this. I'm sure you will be delighted. Lineart- Okay, first, to get good linearet, you obviously have to spend some time, because it just doesn't appear on your screen with an easy snap of the fingers. ----Watercolor lineart- Most people use watercolor lineart. It makes your lineart a bit smooth then using solid color. First, switch layers, from layer 0, to layer 1. (assuming you have a sketch.) Use it at around 245 opacity, and with no rush, trace the sketch from layer 0. You can go over your lineart again to make it darker. After you're all done, switch back to layer 0. ----(Solid lineart)- Solid lineart is the same. Go to layer 1, and trace the sketch from layer 0. Now, with solid lineart, you need to be a bit more careful. You might need to try it out a few times first. Coloring- Now, theres lots of ways to color, like, oh, solid coloring (Known for some people as "cel shading") Water color shading (smoother) and mix between them. Now, coloring is a lot easier if you use Layers. Another thing that I see a lot, is that people don't use a light source, and it totally messes the picture up. Make sure that all high lights are in the same direction. ---- Solid coloring- Now, make sure you have a color set, and use it on the part of the picture you want to. Next, use a lighter/darker color, and color it in. (Make sure that the shading is in proportion to the rest of the coloring) Be sure that it looks half way decent, because a lot of solid coloring has a lot of little solid pixels where they don't belong. (If you want to smoothen it about a bit, use the blur, and when I say that, use it wisely). ---- Watercolor coloring Watercolor coloring is easier for me, personally. (Better for more realistic styles as well) Pick a lighter/darker (A hue or shade) color of the color you using now. Start to apply the color, and depending on the opacity, shade/highlight the object you're shading in. Gradually make it darker/lighter. If its not smooth enough for your taste, you can use the blur tool, but please, use it responsibly. ;P Background While testing different things out in the background isn't so bad, decent backgrounds are more appealing. Try adding an objects, like a tree. Or, add a sky, a side walk, a building ect. Remember, the detail in the background is just as important as the foreground/ person. Take this as you will. Have a happy bad drawing free day. |

I agree with it all. Mainly right before the instruction began, even though all the insight is good, I liked it before the actual instruction. :}>

I love what you said there. Yes, I know I myself needs to work on some things. I basically follow similar ideas. Everyone has their own ways of doing things, but some better than others. Sigh.. sometimes I wish people would comment on my pictures so I could figure out what would make them better. Every entry I submit I'm upset with, because I know I have potential to do better. Well, I think that This is a very nice thread! Well said!! ^^

Ha, sincity. ;P
Mazi, I know there other help out there, and you have posted the links to some of them, but I doubt people are actually looking at the advice, if not even lookinf for any advise. This is just a start, i'm not telling someone how to draw. They can do what they want, i'm just giving them ideas. inatyrb, you get comments, trust me, and more then that, people look at your drawings. |
