KO seems to use mostly the Light and Dark effects. *EDIT = Mostly Light and Dark, for this specific pic*
They can be useful at times, but they often 'burn up' your drawings.
If you want a shading tutorial, just Memo me. XD
You are getting better at this KO. Lineart is the next focus, and then light source-wise shading with watercolors and minimal Light or Darking. Someday, you'll he a great artist!

KO, Belleza was just saying how it looked burnt. Nobody else said it looked burnt... They said it ruined the pic a bit, but Belleza pointed out how Dark can burn things? See? ^_^

the lighting looks off. it looks like its lighting up the bottom of his face, yet on the hair it comes out near the middle. and since the lighting seems to be coming from the bottom, there should be shade above his lip, not below. and his burnt hair would look better if it curved across his scalp, ie, in a more rounder way.

although i hate to say it, but you are definitely getting better ;P although i have to say there are some other things that could use work in this picture. it looks like you sort of ignored the bit of his... thing (shirt? sweatshirt? scarf? o_o) near the left side of his head. the strands of hair on the left and right shouldnt start so high. i like the middle part of his scarf cloak thingy though o_o
