forumsdrawing discussionWhat is considered acceptable?

I've been curious about this for some time now, and I see stuff everyday that makes me wonder more.

How do moderators deem things unacceptable, or deletable, even not-decent? Is there a quality guide they follow; a link that takes them to ''How to Judge an Oekaki'' or something?

I've seen art here that makes me wonder. The beginner board being a prime example. Specific people draw pictures that take 10 minutes or less, and they're just a bunch of colors and shapes made using the line and bezier tools and oval and rectangle tools. Yet somehow, they remain un-commented on by moderators. Nobody labels them terrible or unworthy of a good word. Yet when one person in particular drew a picture that probably could have used a bit more work but was acceptable in my eyes, (And the person spent half-an-hour working on it) it's labeled not ''decent''.

Just wondering about this... =/

I have done quick pics like that... experimental ones(so I learn new tricks for better pics...) ... I've had one or two deleted... I wondered the same thing though...

They make them while moderators are sleeping. >:)

I think if I saw a picture like that, I'd delete it pretty fast. But I don't always venture past the first page of the beginner's board, because I prowl around it fairly often. It's possible a few can slip past.

This is kind of a repeat forum post, but I'll try to answer anyway:

This section in the site docs explains the basic standards for each board. There is no checklist or anything like that, although there is sort of a link to a quality guide, like you said- just some guidelines to help us decide. It's just a matter of judgement by the moderator. Also, things like whether a person is a repeat offender (constantly spamming the board) are taken into consideration. Sometimes I'm probably more or less tolerant depending on the circumstances, but I don't go on deleting sprees if I'm having a bad day, or something.

Also, realize that we're not omniscient and don't always see every single image that goes into the boards, nor do we always have time to delete or edit everything that needs it. Sorry if that doesn't seem fair, but honestly, unless you have a specific problem with someone or think something of yours was deleted unreasonably or accidentally (and even then, a forum post is usually not the best course of action), you should probably just be concerned with your own stuff and not worry about other people 'escaping' or slipping past the mods. We really do try to be fair, and I promise that I do indeed have a beating heart in my chest. >>

PS- Also, remember that you don't have to post everything you draw, especially if it's a quick, experimental doodle. Experiment all you want, of course, but think before you post something that didn't see much effort go into it.

haha were not omniscient. we have lives! well.. i have a life. i dunno about those other losers :D

actually i have 0 time lately. and im on maybe 3-4 times a week for a few min to do the normal checking out what going on, do a little bit of moderation. but nothing in-depth. i'll probably go through the boards again over x-mas break. and if any one pic is bothering you, memo me and i'll get around to it on my free time.

Oh, I'm not in any way suggesting that I have a life. ~____~

I have a life. it involves beating the crap out of bad artists for their lunch money.

You would get more to eat if you beat up the good artists M.. the bad ones don't have any money.

Is that how 2draw gets its monetary support? And, here I thought the list of donators were people who volunteered funds. Turns out it was their lunch money.

it mostly gets monetary support from my savings account. :-)

I guess that is a good enough explanation for me. Thanks, all. :)
