hello everyone, I'm not trying to to cause a riot here either, but several of my pics I've posted on intermeidiant, and they get moved to either my studio or the beginner board, now I understand that some of them should be sent there, but a couple have been sent there and did'nt need to be sent there, so I was just wondering mods, what do you look for in a itermeadiant picture?

(please I'm not trying to be rude.. just wondering)

It's "intermediate". Anyway, it's subjective of course, but I think I can help you narrow it down a little here. What the mods are basically looking for at the intermediate level is a reasonably good drawing. What is a reasonably good drawing you say? Well, I'm the greatest man on earth (let alone the greatest artist that ever lived) so just look at the masterful work I've done on the intermediate boards and you should get some idea what they want. It can be a little confusing because my work surpasses everyone's expectations so don't expect to be able to do what I do, no one can of course. Just aspire to it, that's about as good as it gets for other artists. Now, since I am so great you won't need to bother reading the incoherent ramblings of whoever else decides to reply because of course it will pale in comparison to the wisdom I'm giving you now. No need to thank me, I don't mind helping people that are not as good as I am.

A lot of the answers regarding to this question depends on the specific drawing (especially if you're talking about abstract pieces), but most of the time pictures are moved when we find some kind of major flaw. Most of the flaws are usually (unintended) chicken scratch "lineart," mass blob couldn't-care-less coloring, lack of correct shading and proportions, over blurring, lack of details in general, lack proper or at least a decent background, and how poorly the piece overall fits itself together. A lot of this varies one way or another, but basically just keep it clean and aim for at least 30 minutes. [axil > television]

Well.. In my oppinion, I'm sure others would agree, "Intermediate" levels of drawing consists of having some knowledge of the applet being used. That means that you pretty much know how it works and that you can use the tools to their extent. i.e. layers, different use of colors, multiple tools used, etc. "Intermediate" also means you can draw more than eyes and giant heads, as well as disoriented animals (Unless it's abstract art).
~Poses, perspectives, and proportion. The three P's that "Intermediates" have a general idea of. They may not be masters of it yet, therefore they aren't "Advanced".

If you're asking what seperates "Beginners" from "Intermediates", then I can sum it down to a list: General knowledge of shading and lighting, proper use of tools to color, knowledge of layers and how to use them, taking advantage of certain tools in a way that doesn't need blurring, submitting entries that includes more than an eye or a giant head, a style or flare that attracts others, a background of some sort...

I'm sure there's more to that list, but that's all I can think of as of now.

You see, I knew that was what they were going to say because I'm so smart. Nevermind them, just listen to me.

Draw weird stuff. The mods will be too scared to move it, and will just leave it alone. God told me!

like I said Axil.. you are so fried ;).... lol Dire.... listen sutafani... I have NO clue what I'm doing, have doodled for years and years... but when it comes to stuff like this.... no clue... what I've always loved about this site is how much you can learn here, by seeing others' work and reading all of the comments... just go in and experiment with all the different tools, sometimes ya get lucky like me and it actually comes out lookin' like you knew what you were doing... and Hakkai, it's true... the mod's opinions don't really matter(except for that you all deserve respect for taking the time to keep this place 'clean'), what matters is whether or not you're happy with your piece... who cares what board it ends up on
