Excellent job KO! Too bad DBA isn't back to see it ! This is terrific
evil_cloud (Jul 16, 2004)
really cool... u must do all non-lineart drawings
DinoFlorist (Jul 16, 2004)
It looks cool, and pretty realisitc. One thing I like to say, however, is that no background is fine, but the choice of where you cropped puzzles me. Composition! I think it would be cool if there was a button where you could just drag it around so it would fit in the picture. Rotataing it diagonally so the handle was at the bottom left corner would probably work. Or if you cropped both sides, that would work too. I realize that you probably didnt plan it out much (I never know what I'm about to draw), but its what makes the picture. It's the difference between a good photogrpah and a bad one, and no matter how realistic something is, if its a bad photograph, well then its bad.

Anyways, I do think it is showcasing some skills. There's a lot of really good things on it.
DMV (Jul 16, 2004)
this is excellent KO :)
laurael (edited Jul 16, 2004)
KO...! You've been hiding some realistic skills! This is so real looking!
Kloxboy (Jul 16, 2004)
I don't think KO has been hiding anything, it's just that you've yet to see him draw a gun before. I think KO's fantasy work is as good if not better than this gun. Generally, realism isn't easy but it's much more systematic and just about anyone can learn to do it. Now, if you look at DBA, her work is not only realistic but it's also stylish, which overall is much more impressive than someone who just copies photos. KO's gun has style to it too, it's a cool piece.
laurael (edited Jul 16, 2004)
Clox...I hope you are not implying that I was 'belittling' KO's 'fantasy works'. I love the stuff he does.
My statement was more to the fact that I've never seen 'realism' from him, so I thought he had been hiding 'those' skills. THAT'S ALL there was to that.
Both realism and copying well, are impressive to 'me', and that's 'my' opinion.
Edit: I changed one word in my other comment to reflect that...
Kloxboy (edited Jul 16, 2004)
You didn't belittle KO Lauael. I'm impressed with representational realism, stylized realism. Rubens and Vermeer fit in this category. There are plenty of great Dutch painters who painted work that was insanely realistic and yet they are a lot less known, you know why? Because it's not as impressive as someone who can make a painting into their own, someone who can make a painting come to life (in my opinion). Realistic painters are a dime a dozen, people who can draw realistically with style are much more rare. Picasso for instance could paint realism with the best of them, instead he took it to the next level. Van Gogh was on his way to becoming a great traditional Dutch painter but he too made painting his own. Digital photo-realism is not all that impressive and over all it's not that challenging or expressive as an art form.

Wow, I love your guys postive comments. I would like to thank Everyone for the critisism.
Dino- Yes, I feel the same way. I didn't know what I was going to do, So I just guessed on the size of the picture.
Looks like I made it a bit to small. BUT I also like it that way, so it gives susspence. You don't know whats at the end of
the gun, it could have blood all over it, it colud be faceing someone. You never know, but Next time I do a gun (which I porbably won't :P).
I will make sure I have extra space, as for the background, I do feel a bit cheap. I admit, I really didn't try a background, but I think It still looks good.
Laurael- I actually have some practice realism drawings here. I haven't done many recently, but if you look, I probably have 3 or 4 pieces.
This is more of practice, then anything else. I know your not belitting me, silly. ;). I don't really think I have been hiding them, just not showing them as much as some people want.
Clox- I agree . Realism isn't easy, it takes a lot of work, and detail to make it look good. I really think I melted a few different styles in here, because as you can see, Theres bits and pieces of different guns in it.

Thank you all, once again. :)
