anyone know of a good tablet I can get that works well with XP? I give in, I'll spend some money, I'll stop drawing with a mouse and try a tablet

Any background ideas? or is that ok?

Hi Chantilly:)
I suggest you take the blur tool and soften some of the edges of the clothing to get rid of the pixelation
(ive never drawn with a tablet--maybe i should also get one)
ps.
I like the shading on the face:)

go well

Hmm...I think mx's suggestion to soften the edges was a good one. As far as a background is concerned, this is nice if you plan on leaving this in the 'block' style it is now. If you add detail to the woman, you may want to alter the background. You've captured lots of expression in this face. I like it.

Yes..soften the edges and blend a bit. This looks like it might have been done from a National Geographic cover photo. Nice work

I like the face. You've done a very good job on the expression and the shading. I have an Aiptek pen and use XP... seems to work okay for me but I've never tried any other kinds.

I think it's finished! Well, lets just say it is, and I'll leave it at that. My paintings are never finished, I don't think I have a finished one yet. All comments, good or bad are welcome

I love the bright colors and the designs on her clothing. I know what you mean about 'never finished.' On mine, there's always something I want to go back and tweak.

Very nice, Chantilly. Great expression. Pretty colors. And...it gets easier. I'm new here too, but already there's a big improvement in my ability to wield the tools. I'm sure you'll experience the same thing as you continue to draw. Good job on this pic. Now, go finish the Koi!
