Hmm... expect more of these.

edit: 1mb already from just 4 layers? Good grief.
The next one won't be quite so blurry.

edit: It looks a little better shrunk down 50%. There.

Pretty sure the space used is the canvas size and possibly the blur tool if you used it, I find that the major thing that affects space is the size, and then the tools... and then I think... if I use a complicated technique with lots of brush strokes (thousands) just as I would in painting a real pic... space - and lots of it. I was drawn to this picture, because it looks like when I go to sleep at 2 am and get up at 4 am to go deer hunting and this is actually the way I see things when I stumble to my deer stand.... lol. :)

Yeah, I read Marcello's whole explanation of why certain things take up more space than others and have a generally good idea of how much space something'll take up, and expected this to be fairly large, but the giant amount of space used on this one caught me off guard.

Notice that the JPEG of this image, which is the full-size picture your browser loads, only takes up 47.5kb... which means that the invisible uncompressed backup copy is what's taking up roughly 900 KB. My guess for the reason would be all of the unique gradient colors and transparency (which are generally what occur when you use a brush-stroke-like technique), in addition to the obvious size effect. If I were to revise this image and flatten all the layers, the total space used would probably go down instead of up. Hmph.

Ummmm, I am truly naturally blonde, remember? I had to make eyes at my Algebra teacher to pass... ummm... I read all of Marcello's explanations, and it sounded like my Daddy trying to explain physics... I don't get it. I just know if I use a big canvas and alot of weird tools and paint background stuff you aren't gonna see that I'm gonna paint over in the next layer anyway it takes boocoos of space. None of this stuff makes sense to me. I can find my way around in the woods in the dark, and I have performed a bazillion "tests" on this silly applet stuff to figure out the space thing so I don't ever have to ask for more... but I CANNOT figure it out. Something always throws me off track. I paint here like I would paint on canvas... feverishly and with thousands of brush strokes. Takes up lots of space to do it that way....that I can tell you for sure.
edit: all I know is this picture looks blurrily like a trail I take to one of my deer stands when I am half asleep. :)
