forums2draw.netCOLLAB Battle!!!

That's right, a collab battle. Each of us (2 people) draw a character. This is a series of 3 to 5 collabs. In true Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter (or whatever tricks your trigger) fashion, the first collab is the introduction of the characters and the "FIGHT!" sign/warning. The second collab would be each character unleashing a power, move, what have you, the 3rd collab would be the end result of the fight, the winner in glory, the loser will be pretty messed up I imagine.

If you are good with drawing characters (drawing in general) and are excited about the idea, please respond.

Haha, that sounds so cool! But I suck at drawing that kind of thing :P

I thought of these details last night, consider them for each battle. I'm thinking now we could actually make this into a tournament? There will be semi finals and a championship match, might be cool? We should organize this so that we all have our matches completed around the same time, give or take a week. I think by the end of this week we should start, we should have a few people in this by then.

I think you get the basic idea but here are some more details:

Each drawing will start with a background and a game like interface, one of us draws the interface, the other person draws the background. The background can be anything, as long as it has a foreground where the fighting characters can stand. The game interface can have power levels, lives, avatars/portraits, whatever you think should be included, this usually shows up on top of fighting games (duh).

We can have three rounds per match, or more. 4 might work best, you'd have the intro piece, next we would each have a piece to show a secret move or power and then the last piece would be the fatality and/or celebration pose.

Each of the 2 characters should not take up more than 40%-60% of the drawing area, so you each have a somewhat equal drawing area. The characters can be anything and have any power but I recommend it's a power we can see lol.

That's what I got so far, still interested? Hit me with any suggestions.

This is a great idea, man! I'm totally down. Hmm... what kind of character to use...
  icon
Kasha (Jun 3, 2004)
I'd be willing to go for it.... if I knew how to draw manly men! OMG! you suck Clox. Lol, I'll be the only one drawing gay men "fighting". I think I'll do everyone a favor by passing this one up.

Minitsaru (edited Jun 3, 2004)
>=] Mmmmmm yummy, sounds fun =) I think u should make first post clox so that we see first hand on how its done? Although it might be hard for some people to get there "special" in one frame. I can think of lots that only work in 1 but many more that would be in 2... (3+ seem a bit much)
  icon
Zack (Jun 3, 2004)
If someone wants multiple frames for their special move, they can just zoom in or otherwise crop the picture, have a dividing line, and draw both frames in the same picture. The health and stats stuff would show up in the final pic. The winner could be decided by votes via comment on the special move of choice (people would not be allowed to vote until both special moves were up and finished) until a specific deadline. Ties could be decided between the artists.

Kasha: Cloud Strife from FF7 was hardly a manly man, but he kicked mucho ass. Besides, there's no rule saying only guys can fight. A deadly ninja girl would be super hot.

furyofroy (edited Jun 3, 2004)
I think I'll draw a character like Chun-Li. She ain't exactly ninja, but still super hot.
  icon
Kasha (Jun 3, 2004)
ohh yes. A ninja girl. >:D *&(&%^A&ADA!!!!!!! I can't draw stuff like that ~.~ if anyone collabs with me they'll only lose.

GREAT. Looks like we have a nice group now. If you want me to start it, I need someone to start it with, just memo me, first memo I get will start with me. Keep in mind, I would like to keep this game among people who are pretty good artists and will commit to the idea. I suggest you find your first opponent in the next 2 days. Lets say the first set of matches start within the next week. One thing though, I think we'll just all fight whoever we want, no finals.

BUT, I think we can have "The Vote Match Tournament" (ala Zach's idea), basically, 2drawers will vote for the outcome of the last round of that match, so after seeing each persons "move/power", they say who gets to win in the last piece. It's Zach's idea, which is a great idea, thanks. As well, no one can vote for themselves, right? The final match should rock! Thanks.

Kasha (Jun 3, 2004)
Ummm, can I be an official judge? :D :D :D!!
ohh and what about not only will we vote for best overall pic... but how about costume design and bestest most strange character?most sexiest..most ugly...ect. you know, stuff like that. Just a lil suggestion for ya...so practically ALMOST everyone goes home a winner. YAY! ...maybe not. ~.~

GREAT, just make sure to read what was outlined in this thread before fighting. Make sure you tell your opponent you are doing a regular match OR a "voters match", which is part of "The 2Draw Fighting Tournament" (so I'm naming it now).

Fights that totally stray away from the outline above will not be able to compete in the The 2Draw Fighting Tournament. I don't want this idea to be held down by too many rules but some organization gives the whole idea more legitimacy. Also, announce your matches so I can keep track of who is actually in the The 2Draw Fighting Tournament and who is just fighting for fun.

What you can vote for in The 2Draw Fighting Tournament:

First off and most important, we need to vote for who wins each battle/match! The more votes the better, your vote counts! hehehe

In addition you can vote for these categories after The 2Draw Fighting Tournament is finished:

- Best Character Design
- Ugliest Character
- Strangest Character
- Sexiest Character
- Best Fatality
- Best Celebration

You can vote for these categories once the whole tournament is finished. The voting instructions and list of characters will be posted here on Main Forums/General board, it will be a public vote on the forum. I think we have enough categories but if you think there is one we should add just memo me.

Match: Cloxboy vs Zach
Part of The 2Draw Fighting Tournament!
Watch for it!

  icon
Minitsaru (Jun 6, 2004)
umm. so when we do the posts, do we do the moves & stances on the same piccy just on diff versions? or do we do totally diff piccs with all redone bg?
  icon
Kloxboy (Jun 6, 2004)
I would say you should create different pics for each power and you can change the bg if you wish. Just make sure you keep the characters the same and no changing powers mid way through the fight. You each draw a pic and show your move/power and it's effect on your opponent. No power should totally obliterate your opponent till the match is voted on, than on the last pic you can destroy your opponent (if you win the vote of course). Basically I would expect anyone who participates in the tournament to vote on each match, of course we'll accept votes from people not in the tournament too.

I'll start up my match with Zach soon. This week we should begin, so start thinking what your character will look like and what his/her/it's power will be. NO invincible characters, I would hope you knew that by now. So yeah, don't submit a character called God or The Invincible Energy Orb or some being that's obviously not going to wastes it's time fighting in the first place. Also, try to keep it semi serious, don't submit a character that's obviously lame or a joke, like The Giant Penis Man or The Mighty Piece of Bread or some goofy crap like that, be creative but pleeassse, IF you do something semi comical or kinda lame, be sure it's unique and not someone else character. Don't draw SpongeBob or someone else's popular character just to get votes, that's lame and none of your opponents will respect you, I won't anyway.

DinoFlorist (Jun 7, 2004)
Damn! I was totally going to do the Mighty Piece of Bread.

Clox... I think you should post a comment that states all the rules.
One that gets straight to the point. You have to accept that there will be fux0rz that will not take any notice of them but I would like to know for definate whats happening.
I hope this turns out good =)

Zack (Jun 8, 2004)
Editing the original post would probably be the best method to list all the instructions, so people don't have to scroll through all this discussion.

Kloxboy (Jun 8, 2004)
Great idea Zack. I'll have a more official set up and rules on a new thread called "The 2Draw Fighting Tournament", within the next 2-3 hours, depending on when I get my work done.

Ty854 (Jun 8, 2004)
clox, how did you think of this idea tho...it is such a great one.

eh yeah, anyway, I'll post the rules and what not tomorrow, too much work tonight, peace
