Was riding back today and there was this awesome sunset that I completely failed to capture. And damn the canvas still wasn't wide enough... plus I completely forgot the colors and composition by the time I got on lascaux.

must be Saturn up there
marcello (Mar 19, 2004)
must it? it was pretty damned bright, that's for sure...
Maiko (Mar 19, 2004)
wow, this is pretty >__> i love how you did the sky
same thing happened to me on the way home from my sister's math class, there was a raven sitting on a curved tree branch on the top of the tree and my sister didnt have a pencil e___e
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 19, 2004)
This is so beautiful... I almost just don't know exactly what to say. You didn't fail at anything... it has that wide open space cool evening air at sunsest feeling and I am just going to sit here and stare at it. (There aren't any canvases on the planet big enough for western skies :)
laurael (Mar 19, 2004)
Wow...now this is a picture you could stare at for a long, long time and feel at peace. Background save, anyone? (and yes, I'm going to...)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 19, 2004)
Yeah, and where is the "showcase" button? If the mods don't put this in there immediately someone should fire all of them! lol
laurael (Mar 19, 2004)
What you talkin about? Marcello could put it in there all by himself! haha...
marcello (Mar 19, 2004)
at least pretend to be slightly critical =P
47 minute drawings shouldn't go in the showcase, especially if I draw them.
laurael (edited Mar 19, 2004)
'But this is wonderfully done' and who gives a rats ass about the time OR if 'you' did it? It's 'your' site, is it not?
Oh...and the pic is beautiful to look at.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 19, 2004)
There's nothing to criticize, honestly, I swear. And it has nothing to do with it being his site, it should go in there because it's good! (And just to prove my point I think you are a spoiled punky little brat! Ban me from your site! )*sticks tongue out at Marcello *It doesn't matter if it only took you 5 minutes, you could have spent longer on it and just ruined it, I guess. Some of the pictures I have done here that I hate (that have no delete option still or they wouldn't be here anymore) are the ones I spent gobs of time on.

edit: jk about the ban part of course, please dont send me away! (And p.s.... that is more than likely the north star up there, don't know what direction you were travelling)
dixielandcutie (edited Mar 19, 2004)
i agree *points to dba's comment* i love this marcello. it's gorgeous, and i could and will stare at it for a long time.. ;p rockin
laurael (Mar 19, 2004)
Excuse me girls, but I think I said about the same as dba...it is wonderfully done...THAT was the point.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 19, 2004)
Yeah, we all agree, so who cares what he thinks? lol
dixielandcutie (Mar 19, 2004)
*chants* showcase showcase showcase!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 19, 2004)
*joins in chanting* the mods here have it pretty together, they don't really need our opinion, and I'm sure they don't care what he thinks about it, either. It'll get there.
laurael (edited Mar 19, 2004)
Yeah...we agree. I think he's just going for the comments to keep this rolling (never mind that we're the ones commenting...hehe)
Sorry...that was uncalled for...hehe.
dixielandcutie (Mar 19, 2004)
lol@ laurael. but seriously marcello that is one of the most gorgeous skies ive ever seen. it really doesnt matter how long it took.
marcello (Mar 19, 2004)
well, the real thing was way better.
dixielandcutie (Mar 19, 2004)
well, of course...you think you can compete with the real thing, youre always gonna be disappointed. but that comes about as close as a picture can to perfection
laurael (Mar 19, 2004)
It's still very, very nice Marcello...really.
davincipoppalag (Mar 19, 2004)
Yes! You did a great job catching that Big Sky feel in the space available.. beautiful job...
staci (Mar 20, 2004)
you know what sucks? well ill tell you. it sucks when you miss a piece that makes you go "ooooo!". but thats not the worst part..the worst part is when everyone else got to go "ooo" before you then you feel like you are just jumping on the "ooo" bandwagon.

gives a peaceful feeling, conveys the "ooo" ness you must have felt when you saw the real thing..thats what makes it showcase.
Gigandas (Mar 20, 2004)
Whoa, this is a nice landscape picture 0_0.The city lights are just crazy ^^;;;.The sky colors fit nicely too.Out of the drawings 'I've' seen of yours so far, I think I like this one the best.
davincipoppalag (Mar 20, 2004)
I keep coming back to look at this one Marcello.. that sky is breathtaking...
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 20, 2004)
I am truly disappointed that this is not in the Showcase yet. :( I'll just keep coming back here to look at it.
dixielandcutie (Mar 20, 2004)
lol, icats i know exactly what you mean. and i keep coming back too...its just really peaceful to look at
Gigandas (Mar 21, 2004)
Hehe, I'm a city boy so I like looking at the city lights than I do the sky ;).I love technology...XD
marcello (Mar 21, 2004)
(And p.s.... that is more than likely the north star up there, don't know what direction you were travelling)
well, it is a sunset, soo... let's figure out what direction that must be. ;)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 21, 2004)
WEll, yeah, duh... you do know I'm blonde, right? I'm really not stupid, I'm just dingy sometimes, well, okay, most of the time. It's still a very great picture, and I obviously *looks up at comments* am not the only one who thinks so.
method3 (Mar 21, 2004)
Reasons to not put it up in the showcase for me would be lack of clear cut details. Why not work on the sky a bit more, make it more interesting instead of just some blurry gradient colors? You could do some clouds better than that I bet.
dixielandcutie (Mar 22, 2004)
maybe...i dunno. i'm certainly not an expert. but to me, the simplicity is what makes it so good. nothing so magical as a nearly cloudless night, the deep blues and purples fading into the vast forever of eternity....*sigh* i like it just the way it is...
marcello (Mar 22, 2004)
heh, I already added more clouds than there actually were, the sky was pretty much one color after the red. I didn't want to overwork it.
laurael (Mar 27, 2004)
...and we all know M3 is not a good judge of a sky...;p
Zack (Apr 25, 2004)
Phht. Time means nothing. If anything, the more time you spend beyond getting your basic inspiration across, the more the picture suffers. Nice work, Cello, I'm impressed.
laurael (May 21, 2004)
Still come back to look at this one...still showcase worthy too...;p
emmamommalag (May 21, 2004)
Wow, this picture is breathtakingly beautiful. The time spent on it is irrelevant.. it's what you DID in that time that counts and you did a magnificent job. I love it.
laurael (May 22, 2004)
Isn't it though? I love it!
davincipoppalag (May 29, 2004)
I keep coming back to this one.. this is my favorite of yours..
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 29, 2004)
Yeah, and it would be alot easier if it were in the Showcase. I should call somebody who knows how to hack and get them to get in here and move it. lol
LEELEE (Jul 18, 2004)
Beautiful! I would frame this and hang it on my wall. Just beautiful!
Anna (Nov 16, 2004)
I don't even know how many times I've come back over and over again to look at this since coming to 2Draw. I've been to Santa Fe a few times, and every time I just loooved this scene. It's absolutely beautiful. You really captured the beauty and luminosity of it very well. This is one of my favorites, since I've actually seen this myself.
marcello (Nov 16, 2004)
Actually, this is mainly albuquerque...
staci (Nov 16, 2004)
heh
Anna (Nov 16, 2004)
I stand corrected. Now thinking, I believe the times we go through NM, we passed through there at the crack of dawn. Still equally as beautiful.
