seriously, you might think I'm retarded or something, but I kinda like it like this. The colored flower then the sketchy flower....>_>? eh? no? okay.
Look (Mar 14, 2004)
the texture on that flower looks beautiful!
davincipoppalag (Mar 14, 2004)

Is this like a bearded iris? I have purple, yellow and white irises and it kinda looks like these except for the color. So far you're doing great... especially on the inside of the yellow petal...good dimension and the colors are perfect.
MaLynne (edited Mar 14, 2004)
beautiful. i'd like to see the whole tree. i miss those trees...

LovelyLori (Mar 14, 2004)
you.... are good.... what more can I say....
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 14, 2004)
I see now tis not a bearded iris. You did a beautiful job on the petals - the only thing that bothers me is that where the extensions (stamen?) from the center of the flower meet and bunch together is in the center of your picture - it is a concentration of red with no break and causes your eye to go directly to the center of the canvas and kind of messes up your composition (which is otherwise good). Maybe if you darkened the red a bit or broke the extensions up by separating them a little more it would solve that) Otherwise is a very beautiful picture - have never seen a poinciana tree :(. I'm missing out!
davincipoppalag (Mar 14, 2004)
I like the colors and the depth you made.. they are so delicately done...beautiful..
laurael (Mar 14, 2004)
This is totally awesome! Looks so real...it's stunning.

welp..i tried and uh..now i think it just looks messy but im ok about it
DinoFlorist (Mar 14, 2004)
it looks beautiful. I like the black background too. Very bold. You don't see that much when people draw flowers.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 14, 2004)
YES< YES: and YES That is so exactly what I meant, and it is not messy, it is now absolutely perfect. I hate to be critical at all, I usually bite my tongue, but the only reason I said something is because this picture is just way to beautimus to let that mess it up and so easily fixed. Now it is so easy to look at!

(Now the composition works perfectly the way I think you intended... well laid out composition at that.. your eye goes to the vivid flower, sort of wanders to the distant one in the bg and then back to the vivid.)
dixielandcutie (Mar 14, 2004)
*claps* bravo. thats a gorgeous job.
staci (Mar 14, 2004)
haha, well thanks, you were right i think..and dont worry about being critical...i dont take it personal as far as artwork goes, and i like help..its hard to see those things when youve been staring at a piece for 5 hours, specially on the computer. >.<
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 14, 2004)
Oh, I know, I don't take it personally either, I just don't usually say anything unless a piece is worth saving, or if I think the person will struggle with what needs to be done. This one was definitely worth a little spit and rub. :) Now, if you don't mind I'm just gonna sit here and soak up all this warm Florida beauty. (howbout those seeds?) lol
Consequential_Biopsy (Mar 15, 2004)
