What's new? Well a few things.

First off, I would like to thank Hakkai, Juna, and Axil62 for their donations! Thanks guys, every bit helps! For others of you interested in donating, please read the donate page.

Second, I would like to welcome furyofroy to 2draw's band of moderators. He's longtime 2draw follower, great artist, and good guy. Plus it doesn't hurt to have another guy on the moderating team. ;)

Third, I was looking through the drawings deleted on intermediate board and noticed a bunch of drawings deleted by their artists. I just have to say that some people have way too high standards for themselves. So if your drawing suddenly returns from the 'grave,' you better memo me with a really good reason that you want it deleted.

Last of all, and this is somewhat of a side note. One feature that has been planned for 2draw for some time is hosted boards. Basically this means you get to run your own drawing board with your own moderators, rules, and design.

This would be a premium feature (to support the site plus helps avoid millions of crappy boards) that means a) you don't need a website or host, b) you don't need to worry about installing or upgrading the site c) you have the advanced 2draw system with no cut features, d) you can use a universal login to access any board on 2draw.

So I'm just curious what people think of this idea (I know I've asked before, but it's closer to a reality now), I'm also wondering what people would consider a 'fair' price for this.

whoo. go foryofroy. its your birthday. (just slack on the nudity ¬_¬)

again id jump for that marcello, but i just dont have any cash. and even if i did, no way to send it.

id suggest making it more towards the cheap side to get more people on. i think thats why people arent doing hosting. so says eveyone that replied to my livejournal post on it. if you made it really cheap im sure you could get tons of people who want cheap stuff. but yeah it needs to be enough to support, i realize.

Congrads Furyofroy, I thought you already were a moderator? Howd u get the specialised title "Sexual Innuendo" ???

Hosted boards? Like on oekaki potato? I think i missunderstood......And as for people deleting their own pictures....It was a joke pic, I was going to delete it anyway and I dont really like animw pics. So to me it just kinda stinks up my board.....
and as for a pay service, How much does it cost to run the server for a month, six months?

furyofroy was setup as a moderator a few days ago, I just didn't get around to posting.

Hosted boards would mean like http://boards.2draw.net/yourboard/, functionally it's similar to installing oekakipoteto on your own webspace, but the main differences is you don't install anything or even need webspace (since it's all hosted on 2draw), and an oekakipoteto board doesn't hold a candle to a 2draw board. I was thinking something like $5/m for a board of 50MB or something, but the details would be worked out once I have it more functional.

As for the web hosting (which is separate), I'm currently working on a completely new site with revised features and interface and whatnot. I'll post again once I finish that up.

You know, I really was going to go for the webhosting, but now I have come to the conclusion that I will not be able to fully utilize it as I have very little content in mind. Also, since the idea of hosted boards has been going around for awhile, I think I will go for that idea as it becomes available. Um... so yeah, just as soon as I figure out how much money I should be saving for A-kon, I can be donating and shizzle.

But yeah, I like the idea... Pretty tight. How can you do that?! I feel so stupid, I have no mechanical abilities I know nothing about computers. Sometimes I belive my Oka-san knows more. Not a good self-esteme booster >.< oh well.

As for the price, I agree with $5. I mean, heck for what your giving out, thats dirt cheep!!! (O.O)I support you all the way!!But yeah, its not I'll be buying it any time soon *looks at crumbs in walt, and how the wind makes a nice wistleing sound through it* *SIGH*

And yeah, go Furyofroy! Just showing us it can be done!! lol n.n

I would love to have a board where I could draw to my heart's content and perhaps invite a few people to join me. I would archive my work and it could be taken off the server every few weeks. As to price? 25USD a year for that kind of service.

If someone wants a public board then I would say 50-60USD for 50mb is pretty reasonable.

So I am recommending tiers of service.
  icon
marcello (Feb 11, 2004)
If there are tiers, that will be only based on space allowed on the board. I doubt I'd do a cheaper board intended for one person. You can make a private board and only give people you want access (I'd show you an example, but hey, the boards are hidden ;)). Those wouldn't be priced any differently.
$2/m is kinda low, though.

timE (Feb 23, 2004)
i would like to start a board for surrealists and abstract artists. i don't know if i could afford it though. i would like to see more types of boards here and what about animated drawings?
  icon
marcello (Feb 23, 2004)
There aren't enough users, drawings, or moderators to split up the boards into themes. Basically there is no restriction in the main 3 boards as to what you can draw.
