so ive been looking around for a while, and i cant find many intermediate oekaki boards. most are uber-advanced, like oekaki central, or uber-beginner, like so many others. anyone know any other good boards?
not that im leaving you guys any time soon. mostly for looking. |

naw. I don't think there's really any middle ground out there -- besides 2Draw. An extreme amount of Oekakipoteto sites are all beginner. In fact, if you go the the Oekakipoteto website, there's a listing of sites people have established with OP.
...somewhere. I forget where. |

You can try Kero Kero Oekaki Boards. VERY friendly people!
They even have levels for users (Ex. Beginners, intermediate, etc.), and it isn't just anime related oekaki. Diverse! Kero Kero Oekaki Boards |

Oekaki Circle is a really advanced board. Pretty strict, too. It's not really intermediate.

The whole set of Oekaki Poteto applet systems have a wide range of boards available, to which I am member of an intermediate one. They draw about as good as you and I (but I'm not comparing you with me), and so on and so forth. So, the Oekaki Poteto system is perfect. Just go on Google, type 'oekaki poteto board' or something, and there you are.

Too bad OekakiPoteto SUCKS.

Yeah, I don't like OekakiPoteto, they all look the same to me. Boring! :\
|

ky (Jan 5, 2004)
That's amusing coming from you, Marcello. Hahaha.
But you can't find too many 'any' places that aren't strict up the ass. |

marcello (Jan 5, 2004)
just cause I contributed some of 2draw's code to oekakipoteto doesn't make it not suck.

I don't like oekaki poteo...it's sorta....well...laughable?....hehe...to hear what the dudes at oekakiBBS have to say about it...when someone's board gets overcrowded, it's called a 'poteo'...
here's some intermediate boards (some of which *are* poteo): AckAnime's oekaki: http://www.ackanime.com/oekaki/index.php?sort=0&pageno= Aku-tenshi's oekaki: http://aku-tenshi.com/oekaki/ For Squaresoft lovers: http://w3.oekakies.com/p/zackyaz/p.cgi Anime Angels: http://www.animeangels.net/oekaki/ Zenia's HP oekaki (she gets around) : http://zenia.unixdaemons.com/oekakiwolf2/ The famously strict OC: http://www.oekakicentral.com/fp/fp1/index3.php A french oekaki: http://wind.prohosting.com/%7Eevelly/cgi-bin/ another bilingual one: http://tinypapers.fried-rice.net/oekaki/index.php random board: http://dlcomics.com/oboard/ And these are boards where...you can already draw pretty well, where you can IMPROVE most of all ^.^ I was drawing at this lovely lovely board with a KH surrounding theme last march...and I loved it there...there were 7 of us, so no spam, nothing pushing our pictures down...and that lasted for 4 months...four talentless 11-year olds joined...turned it into a garbage dump...and everyone went their seperate ways, and I've been jumping from board to board ever since...I mean, it's great here but so...crowded and professional-y and impersonal...it's so hard to find a 'perfect' intermediate board!! And I know only one artist that would ever draw regularily, so no chance of me setting my own up... |

Sounds like I need to start up 2draw hosted boards.

coffeejelly (Jan 5, 2004)
lol, i set up my own board using notebbs. only me and one other girl has the password to draw there so yeah, only 2 spammers :D

davincipoppalag (Feb 8, 2004)
I don't know one from the other, but I like the tools and layout of the one I usually draw with at http://www.wesketch.net
|
||||
marcello (Feb 8, 2004)
That's oekakipoteto... 2draw has both of the programs oekakipoteto has (oekakibbs and paintbbs).
P.s. oekakipoteto's layout SUCKS. |

ky (Feb 8, 2004)
I like it. I just wish it had more applets. If someone could add all the applets to it, I'd like it a lot more.

Fig (Feb 22, 2004)
There's oekaki boards everywhere. You've gotta look around.
|

davincipoppalag (Feb 23, 2004)
do they call the "hot" boards.. Baked Potetos? lol (sorry.. bad jokes just happen..))

method3 (Feb 23, 2004)
Those sites are like stepping back into the stone age in terms of what kinds of features 2draw has now.
|
||||
timE (Feb 23, 2004)
how many different kinds of applets are there? i know the one's 2draw has but i haven't been able to find too many. there's one super advanced one for pros - portalgraphics.net . i just started with this oekaki stuff. how long has it been around?
|
||||
marcello (Feb 23, 2004)
Um, opencanvas is not an applet! It's a program you download to your comp and run, for windows only, no less. Plus that version you linked is not free ($70!).
2draw has all 4 worth-bothering-about applets. There are others like oekakibbs v1 (now that's pretty horrid), picbbs (pretty cool with unlimited layers and all, but unsupported, unfinished, no animation support, and basically no information on how it works), bbspainter (total crap), and some others that I've already forgotten about. As for how long it's been around, a few years, easily 4 or 5. 2draw has only been around for 2, though. |

timE (Feb 23, 2004)
the link was for animated drawings i just thought you'd like to see the art

it's oekakipoteto, don't want to.

DinoFlorist (Feb 25, 2004)
I checked around on all of those sites, and I'd have to agree about the layout and user interface on them being largely inferior. Some of the boards have excellent art or artists, but often it's a pain just to find out who did them. I really like the pop-up menu and drawing descriptions and the layout. Also, I have come to favor lascaux, which, I believe is 2draw exclusive?

hey i was wondering guys is there a way to get the code and run the actual java not on the internet; allmost like a program written in java?
it would be fun to put on my laptop so i can take okaki with me everyware |
||||
marcello (Feb 26, 2004)
