Wow that is a lot of work. Not saying that you should do an easier approach but I would have. Very nice though. :) Well, I guess there is no easy approach for scales.

I figured out one a long time ago. Kind of a loose cross hatch and then rounding the tips a bit after but I kinda like this way too for the scales :)
