You know, I never say anything about who wins contests, because everyone is so skilled,and talented,and I do not really care. However, at this point,I really have to make a remark.
I really DO NOT UNDERSTAND the process of "who's best"here,in contests. Some of the very best painters and artists who do fantastic work,never win, or get first place.(Not ME I'm speaking of) I am for abolishing all contests on 2draw.net, as they "only promote bad feeling". EVERYONE on this site is a good artist. WHY do we not just leave it at that? There is no need to have contests, when it is obvious that very talented people are consistently left out of the process. just dump the contests,and any bad feelings will vanish with them. On another site, I go to,people do this; they have a theme that everyone is invited to draw and paint on,and they leave it at that. No one is a winner, or loser. But,that is what I advise. --db (PS: AAh, ok,you're not affiliated with Microsoft,or Apple,Adobe, ect.ok. Great.) |

You mean the Emotions Contest? This is not the fault of my computer The 'falling' image, first place entry, was more clear and visible in previous versions but darkening it added mood. I had no trouble determining what the picture was, though. I have a CRT monitor and used to think other people painted dark or overly shadowed images and others would indicate that my pictures were 'screaming' with light or color I suffer no visual impairment or color blindness and I've used several methods to calibrate contrast and brightness on my monitor. These might be helpful or informative in determining that your monitor is displaying properly. * Display Calibration * Monitor Calibration -=-=-= IMO Contests will always be judged by people that may have different artistic opinions and thus the results are arbitrary. I think contests are healthy and encourage a more invested participation. I do not believe they should be replaced. A theme board would be a keen addition, though, and weekly or regular subjects posted by a moderator would be welcomed. Some people might be more likely to participate in a theme and reluctant in a judged contest. |

oneironaut (Nov 1, 2010)
What's the going rate on the "Old typey" title?

Axil62 (Nov 1, 2010)
Not you, oneironaut, dorothyblueeyes.

Dorothy,, just thought it worth a mention that the results of the Halloween contest are not yet out. T he results on the contest forum are for the emotion contest. I had no trouble seeing the winning entry on my monitors,so perhaps yours is set too dark, as suggested. At any rate. I wanted to point out that the judges are volunteers. They offered to take on the running and judging of the contests , and I think they have done a very good job of it thus far. Having the contests is just another way to get community involvement and stimulate some creativity. The parameters they use to judge are spelled out when the contests are announced, and they judge how well the entries have achieved those criteria. Just my two bits.

these "sessions" are not even contests; they must be some exscuse by some big companys, to have contests to give away sample products.or promote their companies' stuff Of course, everything here is a conspiracy, made by rich capitalists who control their big companies. |

seems like a misunderstanding.
padmooks is quite busy, I assume that's why she doesn't take the time to write down why x/y won. Maybe Flubbles, the old turdsandwich, could help her out. I like the contests but wouldn't overrate them. Same goes for the showcase. |

I've not even judged the last two contests, I've had a talk with mooks and I'm going to try my best to offer my assistance.

The contests are to encourage drawing through friendly competition. There are no prizes, there is no official process, it's just for fun. Nothing to get worked up over.
As Dave said, the judges are all volunteers doing this in their spare time. All of 2draw is run by volunteers in their spare time. While you're free to speak your mind (please edit/condense your argument next time), if you don't enjoy the contests, don't enter them. |

Ditto what Marcello said...
If you don't like not winning, don't participate... |

Yeah, I knew I would catch shit for saying (all)that.And,yes,I should have edited it.Afterwards, I thought, "too much!"but did not edit.
I do not really have any problems with "not winning."My idea of "win"is getting paid for it, I've done that."The response is exactly what I predicted. I was even expecting to get BANNED.Some sites,if you criticize at all,they ban you.At least, not banned.No,it was stupid of me to write that,.I'm sorry I even wrote it. Thanks for not banning me; try to change anyone else's minds.Does it ever work??NOOOO. thanks, I'll just make sarcastic comments,like everyone else.Oscar Wilde would say,"If life became FAIR,we would all die from the shock. " > ; ) (Axil, You may have the title "old typey,"since many of the remarks here,denote senility.) : ) |

Why ban someone for having an opinion?
|
||||
davincipoppalag (Nov 3, 2010)
She's right..some site mods do that.. its nuts
|
||||
backmagicwoman (Nov 3, 2010)
It's because a lot of people want their opinion to also be your opinion..theyr'e not open to what anyone else thinks..there are people like that at this site, too...not the mods..but there are others.
