(and off course, the stereotype I refer to : http://tattoo.about.com/od/tattoosgeneralinfo/a/tramp_stamp.htm)

I've been told that I've got it all wrong, I went with the stereotype being the tattoo, not the person, and apparently I should have drawn a real whore with a tramp stamp for it to fit the stereotype.
Like, if I had drawn the stereotype "White People Don’t Have Rhythm" I wouldn't have drawn a white guy sitting on a chair and written "doesn't have rythm" under him.
Meh... Maybe I'll change everything then, dunno...

I figured, I don't have to write anything. Just lowering the thingies from the original and voilà : according to the stereotype, this girl is easy ^^

I think I liked it best when it was wooden floored rather than the checkered tiles.

The kerchief hints for religion, and if she's a tattooed religious woman, she's definitely breaking the stereotype. :D
Teapot (edited Sep 26, 2010)
The whole discussion makes me crazy. The Double Standard LIVES!!!! Why are women who have multiple sex partners labeled as 'sluts' while it is still not even an issue when men do? I think this picture definitely illustrates a stereotype and an ugly, negative one at that. The drawing, however, is gorgeous! You've taken Man Ray's gauche photo manip and turned it into something lovely. I like version 5 best, too. I think turning the sound holes into the letter 's' was pretty clever. And I also think the turban was just a fashion of the time, not part of some religious garb.

I think some people oughta learn to leave the judgements to the skies(and I know some would say I'm the last person they'd expect to hear that from)(it's a gemini curse I think.. the good twin and the bad twin) :)... and move on. Learn quietly to yourself... make a choice on what is right and what is wrong...follow your own heart but don't trample others... The drama will never stop. It's a shame.
firecracker (Sep 27, 2010)
Well she doesn't look like a slut to me.....she seems to be in some sort of a religious sect. I like the scarf wrap around her head, and the tattoos are nice. I like the version with the wooden floor the best also. The checkerboard floor somehow detracts from the pic......that's just my opinion though. very nice draw....:)
lori (edited Sep 27, 2010)
betcha those tattoos will look real good when she's an old lady
firecracker (Sep 27, 2010)
Yeah Lori......when she gets to be an old lady.....those tattoos will start sagging, along with the rest of her skin....."lol"!!! There was a time when my sister and I were thinking of getting a tattoo.....but our brother sorta discouraged us, because he told us that as we age, our skin will start to lose it's elasticity, and ultimately start to sag......which means that the tattoo would start sagging too.....there's nothing worse than a "saggy baggy" tattoo!! "LOLZ"!! :)
lori (Sep 27, 2010)
anh... by then.. I don't think you're supposed to be bothered by what you look like anyhow :)
firecracker (Sep 27, 2010)
You're right Lori.....once you get old......it doesn't matter what you look like.....just "go with the flow"....."lol"!! :)
shults (Sep 27, 2010)
That's sad and I hope isn't true.
why shouldn't older people care?
If they live in the present and not in the past, shouldn't their current looks matter as much as it did before?

And I'm not talking about crying over each wrinkle, but using the elegance of their appearance to their benefit. There are many beautiful 60-70 yr women today, who are always elegant, caring for their wear, make up, hair, nails etc.
davincipoppalag (Sep 27, 2010)
good entry!
lori (Sep 27, 2010)
I suppose the more money you have you can care more..... but I care minimally.... what I use lasts a long time. and I do care... I will still care years from now if I'm still kickin'... it's just that I don't feel well alot of the time, for various reasons... and I don't go out much anyhow, so I don't have to worry about it much
Bacchae (edited Sep 27, 2010)
I'll keep working on the background, thanks for your input, I appreciate it very much :)

Anyway, everything you're saying is interesting. Seems there are a lot more "tattoo stereotypes" around than just the lower back one.
(Little story I read : a little boy pointing at a tattoed girl in a swimming pool and loudly asking his mom if the girl "got out of jail". I truly believed that stereotype was long gone... Apparently, not that much).

This stereotype still exists..I have six tattoos..and some pompous jerk told me my soul was in jeapordy and lots of people give me that look like they think I'm dirty or trashy...people are just ignorant...they rely on outer appearance to judge someone on the inside...Your picture is lovely..very well done..love the headwrap and the tattoo...
