The arch looks like a dark, carved turquoise...beautiful! When I saw the thumb, I had NO idea this would've been drawn by you, fire. Then I opened it and the first thing I saw was the texture and KNEW it could only be drawn by one artist here...I was right =) It is the perfect touch...my fav is the unicorn horn! =) Happy Birthday to your daughter! She'll love this for sure!

Thanks very much everyone.....for all your nice comments......I really appreciate it. I'm gonna work on it some more, I'm still not totally satisfied with it. Yes.....I used the texture tool on this draw.....I figured since it is a "fantasy" type draw....the textures would help to make it look a little more magical and sparkly......I tried not to overuse them though. I keep trying to add more to this, but I'm not making any progress.....I might just leave it as it is....I'm not sure yet. I keep wanting to add some stars.....but it looks too cluttered when I do that, and I tried adding more flowers, but it didn't look right.....LOL.....I'll just keep playin' around with it for awhile, and see what I come up with. Happy Birthday to your daughter! Any little girl would be thrilled to have such a gem-like magical birthday gift. In fact, I have a 60-year old friend who would steal it off my wall if it was hanging in my house. I love the pillar and arch and the moonlit sheen. I think one or two twinkly stars would be perfect. If you do any more with this (and I don't think you need to) you might rethink the source of light on the princess. Everything else seems to be lit from the sky or the magical fountain, but she has light on the opposite side. It could be coming from an interior source, though.

My daughter isn't a little girl anymore, but she's still "young at heart", and she still loves unicorns....."lol" I might try adding a couple of stars.....when I tried it earlier it made the sky look cluttered. If your'e 105 years old how old does that make your'e daughter?

"lol" flubadub.......I'm not quite 105 yrs old yet......I have quite awhile to go yet, before I reach that ripe old age....."hahaa"... I don't worry about ever getting that old......I'll have "kicked the bucket" long before I reach that age"lol". I'm not gonna tell you how old my daughter is.....she might not like me telling her age online, but she has two daughters of her own, and she is still "young at heart". I wish she didn't live so far away.....it's been way too long since I've seen her. You didn't make a comment on my unicorn draw flubadub......do you like it.... or not..... I'm curious to know.....:P

firecracker - say it didn't take you 14 hour to draw this. you went shopping and watched tv or something, while you left chibipaint running.. right?
if you did paint it that long.. you should try to practice painting faster, it'll be much more fun.. steal techniques from fast painters, like copy some frazetta paintings and speedpaintings from spoogedemon and try out the blending techniques by nebezial. that should make you twice as fast! :D
also try to figure out ways to do everything with as few brush strokes as possible

..also please don't paint with the texture brushes (i mean the vertical horizontal stripes, they hurt my eyes to look at. Well not so much in this particular painting, but in others you have done, i get cross-eyed when i see them) well until we get some decent texture brushes, try to paint without them.

..when i look at the unicorn i can see that you have lots of experience drawing horses :D

Hi "mursku"......I just now noticed you left a fairly long comment on this draw......I really appreciate your constructive criticism.....I really do need all the help I can get...."lol".....I'm not an artist, I'm just an "artist wannabe".....I have lots to learn yet, and I appreciate all the "tips" that you have given here. Noooo....it did NOT take me 14 hrs to draw this pic.....what takes me so long when I draw is the fact that I "dilly dally" around so much, trying to figure out what I'm doing. I'll draw a little bit....then I'll sit and look at it, and try to figure out what I don't like about it, and maybe try and make a little change to see if it looks better, then I'll go and eat something, and leave my computer running, and I come back and start drawing again, and then I sit and look at the pic for a long time.....and I just dilly dally around until I finally get tired of drawing, and I post it...."lolz"! I really don't know how to paint in the "fast" mode.....I'm not fast about anything in my life...haha! It takes me longer than anyone here to actually complete a draw. I would love to be able to copy some frazetta paintings.....I luv those kind of fantasy draws.....like Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell do. I really admire all the draws that you have done.....you are definitely one of the most talented artists here, and there are several really talented artists here......I wish I could learn how to draw like that. YES.....I KNOW that I overuse the texture tool......I have heard about that many many times.....I'm addicted to using that tool, and I'm gradually trying to "break that habit"....haha! I'm so happy that at least you like the unicorn on this draw.....I drew this pic for my daughter. Also......I don't have a tablet....I only draw with my crappy old "mouse", and I don't use "layers".....so I just try to do as good a job as I can, using what I have. I thank you again for all your constructive criticism.....I hope I can learn from what you said here....I hope I can learn to "speed up" my drawings, and I hope I can over come my "addiction" for the texture tools.....haha!! :)

Thanks "lynn"....I love horses and unicorns, and I enjoy trying to draw them......I still need a lot of practice though....I never seem to get them to look the way I want them to. Hopefully someday I'll get better......thanks!! :)
