Last night I did paintchat with Solve on Nikos paintchat. It was pretty cool and I thought it would be cool if 2draw had a paintchat too. It would be fun to see some artists drawing 'live' :)

Do you talk and draw at the same time or is it just a chat forum?

enjoydotcom (Dec 15, 2009)
You can draw in one section and talk in the same screen.

Roytje (Dec 15, 2009)
Yep, you can talk and draw at the same time with a lot of people. It has the same tools as shi-painter :)

this one sounds better than the one at RMD (ratemydrawings.com). The app is much more basic than shi. Are you limited to the amount of ink you have when drawing? You run out at RMD, which can be really frustrating!

i remember the 2draw paintchat. it never got a consistent number of people to keep it going, so it got scrapped.
I still miss it sometimes. |

paintchat is poorly built. it had to be reset all the time, and there were plenty of security holes. that's why we're not running it.

Roytje, I'll have to join you two next time. Trying to make it a habit at least once a week. Last time Marcus and i hooked up on skype with mic's so we didn't have to worry about typing while drawing.

Tons of people paintchat in iscribble. the tools aren't the best, but it was fun. haven't been there in a long time.
..forgot to add that you can do group paintchat or set it to private. |

I don't remember. I trusted Marcus with the job of finding a paintchat since he's more familiar with what's available. Unfortunately I didn't bookmark the last one we did.

I use the one on rosanbo, nikos wouldn't accept my e-mail a year or two ago.

Paintchat sounds like Drawchat (the one Elly mentioned) minus the limited ink issue, plus the shi applet. Even though Paintchat sounds better, I'm still more used to Drawchat. I've been drawing there for a couple of years, despite its flaws, and I'm quite fond of it. I must say it's rather enjoyable to draw and chat with other people in real time. I wish some of us here on 2draw could do that too. If not on 2draw, maybe on Nikos or RMD. And you already know which my favorite is.. :)
Here's a video demo if anyone's curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSg9fl-GILw |

Drawchat was really disappointing. After having to wait a few days to even use it I tried it a couple of times and haven't been back since. There were pissheads drawing over each others work and over all it felt like drawing with children. The tools were slightly better than mspaint.

Harsh D:
Well there's been some updates <.< Meaning the tool's a bit better and scribblers can now be stopped from ruining your work. Drawing with kids? You musta been hanging out with the wrong crowd. I'd invite you to hang out and draw with mine but I have the feeling you'd still be disappointed and I just couldn't handle the shame of failing you like that :) |

We still have to draw together sometime, CrimsonKing. :)
