"Incitatus" was the favorite horse of Roman Emperor "Caligula". Incitatus is a Latin word meaning "swift". "Incitatus" had a stable of marble, with an ivory manger, purple blankets, and a collar of precious stones. The horse was attended to by18 servants, and was fed oats mixed with gold flake. Caligula even procured him a wife.....a mare named "penelope". Caligula also planned to make his horse a "consul". "LOL"!! This horse is making me crazy......I hope I'll be able to finish him....haha! I'm posting this draw as "finished".....I'm so tired of working on this. I love horses, but this little "stallion" really drove me crazy......he just didn't want to look the way that I wanted him to look...."lol"!! So I'm done with him for now.....I might try working on him more later.....I'd like to make him look a little bit better. I didn't really want to put the collar on him.....but the "ref" pic has him wearing a collar of precious stones.....so I added it...haha. :)

Very good art work, Pretty horse

Sometimes the texture tool can be good, but when you use it everytime its a bit extreme, i seriously think your drawings would look much better without it alot of the time, and im not saying this to be an ass.
Miss_DJ (Aug 20, 2009)
You're off to a nice start with this. I hope it gets a bit lighter though.

Hi "catfish", "Flub a dub", and "Missdj"......Thank you all for your nice comments.....I really do appreciate it. "Flub a dub".....thanks for your advice......I know I use the texture tool too much......maybe I shouldn't have used it in the "sky", but I did not use it on the horse at all......I used the "scattering" tool to make those little "spots" on the horse. The sky area is really the only part where I used the texture tool. I have to figure out how to make the stable area look more like "marble".....I hope I can do that. I also have to make a collar of precious stones around the horse's neck.....and I'll try to "lighten" the "pic" up a bit, if I can. Thanks again for all your comments....I really appreciate it. :)

Hi "Lori", and "xsi".....thank you both very much for your nice comments.....I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you guys like my horse pic. Lori.....the story of the horse is a true story.....there really was this Roman Emperor named Caligula, and he did have a horse named Incitatus.....and he did do all these things for his horse...."lol". "Xsi".....I'm so glad that your mom likes your new "desktop".....that's a very nice compliment....and I thank you very much. :)

Everything is beautiful about this draw, fire! I know I've said it before, but maybe I can say it a little differently this time, "don't cover up your beautiful, detailed work with textures!! The scattering tool was perfect for the horse's spots but the other texture with them distracts from the spots themselves...you also didn't need it in the sky, fabric or arched doorway! Perhaps you think it enhances your pieces but personally I think it covers up and hides much of your wonderful work!! Of course, I'm one to talk with my addiction to dodge & burn!!!! We really need a 12 step program I do believe! =) hugs!
lori (Aug 21, 2009)
oh I loved learning that fc, but I loved that you said the horse just didn't want to come out looking like you wanted it to :)
Black_Bird (Aug 21, 2009)
This has a real fantasy feel to it, with the Pendant and cloak draped around the bottom of the horse like as if it had transformed from a human. The colour and lighting creates such a mood. Can't look away. :)

Hi "Elly", and "Lori", and "Blackbird"......Thank you all very much for your nice comments....I really appreciate it...:) "Elly"....Yes......I realize now that I did overuse the texture tool again......"Flubbles" had pointed that out to me in an earlier comment, and he was right.....I had forgotten that I used the texture tool on the horse....but when I looked up close at the horse, I could see the textures, and you're right...it does detract from the horses "spots". I can also see where I used textures on the fabric and the arched doorway.....I think I must do this without even "thinking" about it".....I didn't remember "texturizing" everything like that....."lol"! I really do need a "12 Step Program"...."lol"! Thanks Elly for your comments and "constructive criticism".....I appreciate you taking the time to comment, and for pointing out the things I need to work on to improve my draws.....I really value your opinion. :) Again.....I want to thank you "all" for your comments......I value all of your opinions very much. :)
