Well.....I'm finally posting this "pic" as "finished". I did more work on it, and I took "Cameo's" advice about changing the contents in the basket from flowers, to "wheat". I tried toning down the textures a little bit also. I hope it looks better now. I'm glad to be done with this draw...."lol"!!

Hi "Bette'.....Thank you very much for your nice comment......I really do appreciate it. I'm glad you like the "pic"......I know I am a "texture-holic"...."lol".....I can't get it out of my "system".....Once I start "texturizing".....I go a little crazy, and I can't stop! I'm not finished with this draw yet.....I may try to "undo' some of the textures....I don't know.....I love the "sparkly" look....but sometimes I do too much. Anyways....thanks again for commenting....I appreciate it. :)

This is very good, you do faces so well!
firecracker (edited May 20, 2009)
Thanks "Tscott", and "Golden ataris" ......for your nice comments....I really do appreciate it, and I'm glad you like the "pic". I did remove some of the textures on the girl's blouse and skirt....I think it looks better now. There's still a couple of more things that I might do.....I'll have to experiment a little. Thanks again for commenting....I appreciate it. :)
davincipoppalag (May 20, 2009)
it looks like a lovely painting FC !

Thank you very much "DaVinci"......I appreciate your nice comment, and I'm glad you like the "pic". :)

Beautiful, HOT colors and so well drawn! I'd love to see you do one like this without the texturing (please don't take offense! o_O). I just think some of the texture takes away from your beautiful work and skill! I know how those tools can become addicting tho (I'm working on a 12 step program). But still, this is a very fine piece of art!
firecracker (May 20, 2009)
Hi "Elly"....Thank you very much for your nice commnt.....I really do appreciate it. I'm glad you like the "pic".......I agree with you about my using the texture tools.....that's a habit that will be very hard to break....."lol". I did "tone down"some of the textures with the blender tool, but it wouldn't remove all of it. I'm gonna really try to "restrain" myself from over using those tools from now on.....I don't know how successful I'll be.....but I'm gonna try....."lol"!! Thanks again for commenting "Elly"......I really do appreciate it. :)
Aakyra (May 20, 2009)
Hi Sparky! This is a beautiful composition! You've done a great job with it, but I honestly don't like the texture. I think it takes away from your work... a little more work on getting to the sharpness through contrast and lines and it would be amazing. Sorry, I am just not a fan of the texture, but I am a fan of yours.
firecracker (May 21, 2009)
Hi "Aakyra"....."Wow".....it's great to hear from you! Thank you so much for your great comment.....I'm glad you like the "pic". I totally agree with you about the "texture". The more I look at this "pic"....the more I can see that it would probably have looked better without all the texture. You say that a little more work on getting to the sharpness thru contrast and lines would have made the picture great......how do you do that though.....I'm not an artist, and I never learned how to get to the "sharpness", by using contrast and lines. I also don't know how to use "layers".....I know that would help to make the pic look better too. Maybe you could explain how to use contrast and lines to get to the "sharpness"....Sometimes when I'm doing a draw....the picture can look kinda "dull", and when I add textures, that seems to "sharpen" it up a bit. I'm gonna try to keep from "overusing" the texture tool from now on. Anyways.....I'm really glad that you took the time to comment on this "pic".....I really do appreciate your opinion, and any constructive criticism that you can give me , will help me to try and do better. I remember one time (back in sketchfu).....you told me that it takes "practice, practice, practice".....I always remember that.....:)
elly (May 21, 2009)
I'm going to break it to you, firecracker. You are an artist. Face it! =)
Cameo (May 21, 2009)
The texturing (is that a word?)at the bottom of the painting looks like wheat. If you could change the contents in the basket to wheat, it would be spectacular!!!
firecracker (edited May 22, 2009)
Thank you "Elly" for the nice compliment......I appreciate it.....but I still don't feel like an artist.....maybe in time, I will. "Cameo"......I took your advice and changed the flowers into "wheat", and I did a little more work on it. I do like the wheat, better than the flowers.....thanks for suggesting that. I hope the "pic" looks a little better now. I'm tired of working on it. Thank you both for commenting......I really do appreciate it. :)

Very nice work, fc. I think the wheat works well with the colors that you did this in. :)

Nice change with the wheat! Now her lovely head piece really comes out! Beautiful!

hi fire....i think what I like about this is underneath all of that texture. What is underneath is so lovely and well drawn and the colours are gorgeous. I too, as I am sure you know do not like the texture. I think that for you to get away from it you need to do some without using it at all. It makes it look like we are looking at this beautiful scene through a screened window. PLEEEEEEAAAASE try one without.....you are soooooo talented.
firecracker (May 22, 2009)
Hi "Gillie"......I know what you're sayin', and I totally agree with you.....it's just that it is sooooo hard for me to "break away" from using any textures at all. For example...when I drew the "wheat field" at the bottom half of the "pic"....I had to use the scattering tool....set at it's highest level....and then I used the pen....set at it's lowest level, .... and set the opacity and color at it's highest level.....and that's how I got the field to look like wheat.....and that's what I used for the "wheat" in the basket. I know I overuse the textures......I can see what you mean when you say it's like looking thru a screened window......I shouldn't have used the thick "line" texture all over the "pic". Ok.....I'm REALLY gonna give it a try....to do a draw without using the texture tools. I can see where you, and Elly, and Aakyra....all would like for me try drawing without so much texture. I don't think I ever see any of you using textures in your draws.....and you are all such amazing artists. Thank you so very much for your comment and "input" on this draw......I really appreciate your opinion and "CC". That's the only way I'll learn what I need to do to improve my draws. I am going to give it a try...."lol"!! Thanks again "Gillie" for taking the time to comment....I do appreciate it. :)

This is lovely, Firecracker! Beautiful colors and light!
firecracker (May 30, 2009)
Hi "MissDj".....Thank you very much for your nice comment......I really do appreciate it. I'm glad you like the "pic". I did kinda "over use" the texture tools though.....I'm trying to ease off on using so much texture from now on...."lol". Thanks again for commenting. :)
GreyGhost (Jun 24, 2009)
The textures and colors are amazing ... it looks lit from within.

Hi "GreyGhost"! I just now noticed that you left a comment on this draw. Thank you very much.....I really do appreciate it, and I'm glad you like this "pic". I do think I kinda "over used" the texture tool a bit though...."lol"! Thanks for commenting!! :)
