why in the world are you getting a 12x9 tablet? You won't need it unless you work with graphics professionally, and even then, you'll rarely ever need more than a 6x8.
Check how you draw normally, on a piece of paper. You won't need a 12x9 tablet unless you draw on a really large scale and try to fit lots of detail in-- a 4x5 sounds small, but for me, it works naturally. I don't need anything over that. Also, get a Wacom, rather than an aiptek. Wacoms have better sensitivity, better free software, better compatibility. |

I have a 6 x 8 aiptek. I totally agree with you Sawtooth. *GET* *A* *WACOM.* This is my SECOND aiptek, because the pen on my first tablet broke within weeks. The tablet I have now is already having similar problems. A curse on aiptek and all who haven't already burned their crappy aiptek tablets yet.

Uh, yeah. I draw on normal pieces of paper, as well.
It's just that 12x9 is unnecessary. 6x8 is a nice size, if you think it's worth the extra money. misho1337: that's something I'd like to see :) |

nyao, serious, you don't need a 12 by 9. some ppl only use 4 by 5. i kno at first you feel worried you'll draw outside the 4 by 5 or 6 by 8, but serious the 6 by 8 is all you need

i think mines a 4x5 at first i found it hard to use, i dont have a regular mouse, so random surfing on the net was funny.. but now i have no problem, my friends on the other hand curse me everytime they use my computer... hehe.. but i have to agree with everyone else here, dont go for a huge tablet, theres no need, its not like ur even looking at the tablet when u draw. but u should deffently get a waccom i found it to be the least expensive and i have had no problems for the year that iv owned it ^^ happy drawin!

I would recommend getting a tablet PC, they are the most like the feel of real drawing, but you need to create a special desk or something if you don't want to draw on an upraised surface.

You know what? nyao, you can get whatever the hell you want to. Don't listen to these people. It's all up to you to get what you want. If it helps you, I have a (broken) 12 by 9, and I don't do professional anything.

12x9 wacom is $470 though, 6x8 is $300 or $200, depending on the model. And from all I've heard aipteks break really easily and suck in general (so any size aiptek in that is stupid).

Er...don't get a Jamstudio one, cause they don't work if your pc's above 98. As I found out the hard way...

I think you should get a 4x5 Wacom Graphire. It's all you're going to need. If you're planning on drawing professionally you'd already have a 12x9. You're probably already ok with using a mouse to draw, so you'll get used to how the movements of the tablet pen correspond with the strokes on your screen. n_n

My tabby is a Wacom Graphire3; the drawing size is 6x8 and it works great. Though I've only had it for less than a month ^^. It comes with very good software like Adobe Photoshop Elements 1.0 & procreate Painter Classic by Corel. *reads off the face of the wacom software CD*

You guys are scaring me! >.< I have a 12 by 9. Yes, Aipteck, but I have yet to experiance any problems. I've had this for at least 4 months or so, and the last 2 months I've been using it with intensifying hours. My friend warned me AFTER I had gotten an Aiptek not to, but it was too late, and I was fretting for the first moth like crazy. Anyway, it really depends on your needs, I can't work with tiny stuff, and a 12 by 9 fits perfectly on my lap n.n

Defenitely buy a small one first. even if you are used to draw on paper, 12x9 is way too big. Just imagine how big a desk you would need. I used to draw on regular paper and huge sized paper too, but I get along with my 4x5 just fine. Although I think 6x8 would be a good size. As for brand, defenitely for wacom. Graphire series would be fine if you are not professional, otherwise, if you can afford it, you can get intuos.
love my wacom graphire |

Jeex! 12 by 9? How much would that be? I want one! Oh well. I'm happy with my little Graphire, too. Very loyal. So you can keep yaz 12 by 9! Graphires can go just about anywhere if you a big enough pocket. :)

i have the same..6x8..they are really cool..though..its really strange becuase you dont get the friction you usually get when drawing on paper..but..if you put a piece of paper over the plain..(the surface you draw on..) then..it will be the same as drawing on paper..tablets are very fun and niffty..it hink you will really like it..heheh i like mine..though it gives me problems
