yes, yes! this is a stage you go through to get there! you're on the right track! Now at this point, I think I'd use a round brush, medium-sized and with the difference tool and anti-alias and blend, play around with it some more...now keeping your pen held down on the canvas. see what happens!

Thanks Qt...just practice...I've been playing in the toolbox of paintbrushes for several years now, while you all were drawing exquisite realism! So, thanks for the compliment, but I'd rather be good at the real thing.
