WARNING TO ALL MOUSERS: Lascaux is NOT for you! I repeat! Lascaux is NOT for you! Well, atleast, it's not for me anyway. Way too much work to try to get what you want with a mouse. WAY too much! And then, it doesn't even come out the way you want it after all of that. If you can manage it with a mouse, than by all means, go ahead! but for those of you who want your work real nice like but only use mouse, avoid lascaux! hmm

what else? guuh, oh yeah. The silly thing messed up my line art. I think the layers are buggy. man, I reallywanted this to come out the way I planned it, but nooooo--
Hmph!

Cool. Really cool. I have no idea what it's about, but it's still cool. For some reason, I'm reminded of the manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure... especially the 4th part. Dunno.

never heard of jojo's bizarre adventure. but I'm glad you like my piccie! ^_^

It's kind of funny that you say that, since lascaux was mostly written/tested when I didn't even have a tablet. I find it a lot easier to use with a mouse than a tablet, compared to the other applets. Hell, most of the drawings I've done in it are with a mouse. I mean, the simple fact that you can use the middle button to drag the canvas around, or the wheel to zoom in/out is enough to make me hate the other applets. Of course if you have an oldschool 2 button mouse with no wheel, meh, what can I say. :-) Alt+left click works the same as middle.

The only thing I can imagine is the lineart isn't as smooth as shi-painter's pen tool, but as I've said before, I'm working on it. ;-) As for layers, you're completely wrong, if anything is buggy at layers, it's paintbbs/shi-painter, ever notice that white garbage its lineart produces? Then you have to go back and clean it all? None of those problems are in lascaux. Plus the simple fact that you can draw lineart on the default layer, make a new layer, and move it under the default layer is reason enough to prefer lascaux's layering system. It's not limited.

But ya, despite all that, the picture still rocks, so I'm somewhat confused. You even used the brush spacing. :-)
Doodlibop (Oct 17, 2003)
heh, I used the brush spacing out of sheer serendipity. Anyhoo, I never have that problem with shi. On lascaux, I put down a blue outline on layer 1, created a layer 2 and created a black outline, then when I try to erase the first layer's outline, some of it went right to layer two. That made me SO mad! how is that not buggy?

thanks for your compliment on the pic. It would have been better if stuff didn't happen. *mumbles under breath sourly*

On lascaux, I put down a blue outline on layer 1, created a layer 2 and created a black outline, then when I try to erase the first layer's outline, some of it went right to layer two.

That's basically impossible, unless you did something wrong. Like drawing on the wrong layer. In the insanely rare and most likely impossible case that there is a bug in lascaux, please tell me how to reproduce it, because if no one does, it will never be fixed.

Ok, I'm confused as well. If you have 2 layers, one blue and one black, and you want to remove the first blue layer, why did you not just delete that layer? There's no need to go in with an eraser in other words and there's no way they can be mixed at all unless you are drawing on the wrong layer as Marcello said.

Oh,anger! I love anger. This is funny and cute. And the layers messed up on me too, somehow the first layer switched over to the third...it's also a glitch that can happen on PaintBBS,I went through I shitload fixing it on my site,I had to tear down the old code and add new.
Doodlibop (Oct 20, 2003)
See, Marcello? I'm not the only one! and thanks for your comment Reku!

Actually I don't see, I don't believe either of you if you can't give me definite proof that it wasn't your fault.

I love this picture, especially her teeth and the expressions on the little ball/bell things faces, lol. As for the Lascaux debate, none of my layers messed up, but I wasn't able to do as clean of line art on it. I am a mouse user. But it was because when I was coloring underneath my lineart, when my brush moved past the lineart, it would wiggle or something. lol. but more than likely it was just my computer. Also, I like the pixel by pixel drawing, similar to drawing in MS Paint. It seems more solid on shi than lascaux. But lascaux really does have more options. *gots to learn it bettah* I try to remain unbiased, not everybody does. >>;;

Actually I do that a lot. I forget to switch layers sometimes, and it is possible you dragged your mouse over the layers and switch them. And it does tell you what layer you draw on in the history box.
