To those who are still contemplating, you won't be disappointed by the print quality.

Everything is super crisp and clean, and the colors are really vibrant (only on the vibrant pictures, of course). Kudos to everyone who contributed. If you don't see you picture in the book, stay tuned for the next one... which will hopefully take much less time now that the kinks have been worked out. :) Happy drawings!

Oh, and make sure you order soon to get them in time for christmas!

I too ordered my copy of the book. I still had a gift coming my way from my birthday from boyfriend, so this is it :D. Wonder whether the ones I nominated are in it. Is there a list of contributors available?
  icon
davincipoppalag (Nov 27, 2008)
Marcello is being very cryptic about that.but.. it also sounds like there will be a second edition so if not this one..perhaps the next!
  icon

davincipoppalag (Dec 3, 2008)
Mine arrived today!! It's great!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee
  icon
enjoydotcom (Dec 3, 2008)
I'm getting mine probably tomorrow. :D How big are the books by the way? I will be at work, so I'm hoping it fits through the mailslot, or, nah, actually not. Then it's be quite little.
  icon
Pantera (Dec 3, 2008)
Got it today , it measures 7x7 inches=========18x18 centimeters

My thoughts for next book, make it one drawing per person instead of so many by the same artist, and maby that way more drawings of diferent people will be in the book.

All drawings look great, nice and bright, I got the hard cover book, this makes a great Christmas gift for anyone.

  icon
davincipoppalag (Dec 3, 2008)
I got the hard cover too... I think it was well put together..lots of my faves in there..and if there are more books..more room for more faves! Wheeeee
  icon
enjoydotcom (Dec 4, 2008)
From what I saw on Blurb it looks pretty good :D. Sadly the UPS guy took it back with him. It seems I have to sign for it, and here I was hoping it would be on my doormat when I got home. At least one more day to wait. Suckerdesucksuck....

TRIP (Dec 6, 2008)
just got mine today :> the bookteam did such a fantastic job! the layout transitions were well done, it must have been difficult to put such low dpi images into a fluid layout and display without getting too distorted, so props on making it work!
  icon
marcello (Dec 6, 2008)
yea, I was impressed at how good they looked printed. I think it's because they're drawings and not photos, the low resolution doesn't have such a detrimental impact. plus some of the drawings (like yours) weren't that low resolution.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Dec 7, 2008)
You guys did a masterful job with it for sure
  icon
Axil62 (edited Dec 7, 2008)
I hear none of DBA's stuff got in the book. If that's true, then that's pure bullshit.
  icon
davincipoppalag (edited Dec 7, 2008)
She's not there. But I got the impression there will be more books
  icon
Axil62 (Dec 7, 2008)
In that case, who fucking cares?
  icon
enjoydotcom (Dec 7, 2008)
I thought Dba would be in there now you mention it. Nominated quite a few, as I'm sure many others did too. Perhaps she didn't give permission or was denied from the owners of her references. I remember her saying once that she used mostly other peoples pictures. Just hope she's in the next book and also drawing here again.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Dec 7, 2008)
Some of my pieces that were nominated were done using my own photographs as references, and some from photos belonging to 2draw members that they requested that I paint, (I do typically use a photo reference of some kind, but not always) I did give permission for most that were nominated to be used, perhaps they just weren't suitable for the book. Of course after spending so many years here and putting in so many long hard hours of work I was terribly disappointed to find out none of my art was included, but I guess that's just the way it goes. I really appreciate the support, though... it eases some of the pain. Thanks. :)
  icon
lori (Dec 8, 2008)
that's too bad, I would've liked to have seen some of your work in there Cindy. Mine just shipped out, waiting patiently.
  icon
marcello (Dec 9, 2008)
I understand why you are upset. We certainly appreciate all the great work you have posted on the site, and you shouldn't take the exclusion as intentional or personal. I think it is worth us being somewhat more open on our process.

We received hundreds of nominations to pour through and as you might imagine, being an organizational nightmare, not everyone we would have liked to have made it in. Once we had artist permission we started laying out the pages based on how the individual pieces of art flowed together, rather than who drew them. Due to page constraints, we were forced to drop entire spreads of pictures (and you can imagine, after hours of selecting and laying out each page, is not an easy decision).

Despite some shortcomings of the process, I think we produced a great book, we learned a lot, and have sketched out plans to better organize the book project the second time around. There have been thousands of amazing drawings since we first asked for nominations, and it would be great to continue the project.

xiau (Dec 9, 2008)
They delivered mine a couple of days ago, but my mom hid it and told me NO NOT UNTIL CHRISTMAS.
So I'll come back and squeal and giggle over it later, since I have yet to see the brilliance

At least Christmas is guaranteed to be awesome now.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Dec 9, 2008)
I don't think I took it as personal or intentional...I know the pieces of mine that were nominated weren't selected because they weren't suitable for one reason or another. I guess I tend to be a little too open (childishly so, sometimes) and I was just being honest about being disappointed (I left out crushed, devastated...etc. :) (as I'm sure everyone who was hopeful of being included and wasn't probably felt... I am by no means special). I do understand - I am glad I wasn't saddled with the burden of deciding what to put in the book with so many wonderful works of art to choose from - it had to be a lot of work and a very difficult decision, and I am sure it is a very beautiful publication. When I'm finished pouting I might order one.

Oh, and I know you probably just slipped up, but...
"We certainly appreciate all the great work you have posted on the site"
...I think that's a compliment, and if I'm not mistaken it's the first and only one I have ever received from you in all these years, so it might have been worth that to be left out of the book :D
(not really...) *leaves pouting*;) ...this is pretty embarrassing, actually, so enough said about me in this thread, k? Go back to talking about how happy the 2draw book occasion is. :)

huirimeir (Dec 10, 2008)
I would like to know about the pictures and the authors who appears in this first release!.
Is possible to know it?
anyway, Congratulations for the book!
  icon
Anna (Dec 11, 2008)
Hmpf. I'm bummed to hear DBA is not in this book. She's one of my favorite people here and I thought for SURE she would have SOMETHING of hers in there. >:[ Not even ONE! While other artists (according to the postings here) seem to have multiple drawings in it. I <3 U DBA. You certainly should have been in that book.
  icon
Axil62 (Dec 11, 2008)
Pretty fuckin unbelievable, huh? Nothing, not one. Wow.
  icon
vlad.the.hamster (Dec 11, 2008)

  icon
Maiko (Dec 14, 2008)
You guys should make a "I FINALLY GOT MY 2DRAW BOOK" thread where y'all post photos of yourselves holding the book.

:D
  icon
HiroDaZero (Dec 15, 2008)
and then draw it as a comp. :)
  icon
xiau (Dec 15, 2008)
I second Maiko's suggestion. I'd start it, but I don't really have my book yet. Someone needs to come save the day.

SAVE IT.

adxaidl3692 (Mar 6, 2009)
If Cindy is not in the book, there is no sense in me buying it!
  icon
fleeting_memory (Mar 23, 2009)
So how do we know who DID make it in there? If DBA didn't make it who else that should have didn't?
  icon
lori (Mar 23, 2009)
tons of people didn't make it in there.... you can only have so many pages in a book, and I believe there will be more to come
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 23, 2009)
I dont think there will be another..they only sold about 7 copies of this one
  icon

  icon

edit: and if the exchange rate wasn't so shit right now.
  icon
Flubbles (Mar 23, 2009)
It needed more advertising i think! if nobody knows about it who's gonna buy it apart from a select few here.Marcella did a really good job aswell by the look's of it, it must be disappointing.
