Crit, please. I'm going to do this linelessly coloured, but I am not exactly sure how to begin at it with a lined-drawing.

I almost had a heart attack, the internet in my dorm here lags very badly sometimes, and so the applet hung for awhile while it was uploading. Woo.

She looks a bit masculine.
I think it might be because the neck is too thick and her face is too angular.

More definition on the nose, since it looks somewhat flat right now and the shoulders should be bigger.

The eyes seem a little high. I feel they should be lowered a bit. And I agree the neck seems too thick. And the lips seem small in comparison. But looking good otherwise. Loving the detail.
Purple_Misery (Nov 22, 2007)
I like it,the lineart is very clean and the skin tone is perfect. ^^

It's not even finished and it's already beautiful. Good job.

I have a problem btw. O_O how do you make the layer multiply. I can't find it in the shi-painter.

Another Perfectly Painted Patience Popart.
What exactly is she saying? I can read some words not all.

she says, I refuse to be one of the windfalls of your injustice, asshole.

a lot of times when i write stuff in pictures, it's either nonsensical or totally irrelevant, i wouldn't worry too much about reading it.

I like the line of the water in the background, nice detail in the front with the flowers.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Nov 6, 2007)
Love the sharp contrast and the colors you chose. Glad you felt like doing something. :)
Axil62 (Nov 7, 2007)
Brights in front and muted toward the horizon. Nice depth. :)
Thanks Dad. I love you.

?Gy?ki

also known as: Ushi-oni, Uwajima-no-ushi-oni

The gy?ki of Shikoku seems to share some common origin with the great ushi-oni that lurks in the Sea of Japan. Their names are written with the same characters and are in fact completely interchangeable, and aside from that they share a ferocious nature, a tendency to lurk in deep water, a horned head like a fantastic, demonic ox, and a connection to apparitions of women. But the gy?ki is usually conceived of as having a more wholly bovine shape, and prefers to live in fresh water, especially the deep pools underneath waterfalls. While it loves raw meat and has been known to devour men and livestock, it seems to have a slightly less bloodthirsty nature than its saltwater cousin, and in festivals sometimes even takes on a protective function, said to ferociously drive away more malicious spirits.

Congratulations, Gyuuki is awarded first place for Contest Week 64: Youkai
Even though the style you used is very loose there's also a lot of sophistication here. This can especially be seen in the woman's face, which has a high level of detail with being overworked or out of place. Her pose next to this monstrous creature is so perfectly relaxed that even without her horns we might suspect her to be something other than human herself. I also appriciate your ability to use a varied color palette with reds, yellows, blues, greens, and even pitch black together in one composition.

Congrats on the win Mai!

No, thesolarwinds, it's not just you, it's me as well. This definitely looks phalic but more like the artificial kind. A vibrator perhaps? The title would make sense.
