Word up, I thought it was a trilobite too... but I thought they were all extinct before the Dino ages, like Paleozoic style. Cool find at any rate, nice going Staci.
PolythenePam (May 22, 2004)
Those things are called chitons...or maybe it's chritons...Either one. They're all over the rocks at the beach here...
Deathaisha (edited May 25, 2004)
it looks like a leach with fur!I hate leaches,bleh....awsome pic!
terracotta (edited Jan 18, 2006)
Chiton is correct. My favourite ones are called "Gumboot Chitons". It's pronounced ky tun, accent on the first syllable.

Death, that hath suck'd the honey of thy breath,
Hath had no power yet upon thy beauty:
Thou art not conquer'd; beauty's ensign yet
Is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks,
And death's pale flag is not advanced there

"Give me my Romeo; and when I shall die
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun.
O, I have bought the mansion of a love
But not possess'd it, and though I am sold,
Not yet enjoy'd."

In the first version he is there, and in the second, he is missing.

"Go,tell the prince,--run to the Capulets,
Raise up the Montagues.. We see the ground whereon these woes do lie:
But the true ground of all these piteous woes,
We cannot without circumstance descry." Lovely picture miss staci

Very nice. Romeo and Juliet was great and the versions would be perfect front and back covers for Shakespeare's play girly :)
terracotta (Jan 18, 2006)
...shall I believe that insubstantial death is amorous and that the lean, abhorred monster keeps thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee; never from this palace of dim night depart again. Here, here will I remain...with worms that are thy chambermaids. Eyes, look your last. Arms, take your last embrace. And lips, oh you the doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss a dateless bargain with engrossing death. Here's to my love. Thus, with a kiss, I die.
(I memorized the entire play 37 years ago. Have forgotten big chunks of it. Touring your userboard and came upon this. Fits my mood today.) A glooming peace this morning with it brings. The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head, for never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.

zep (Jun 26, 2005)
thanks a lot people...basically i´m teaching my heart to believe in what i´m doing at this time of my life :)
terracotta (Jan 15, 2006)
If your heart is having trouble there's no hope for any of us. I'd travel many miles by bus to see an exhibition of your work. And I didn't go to see the Picasso in Vancouver, only 35 miles away. I did drive 1,000 to see the Chagall in San Francisco though...

Peter Pan meets Picnic At Hanging Rock. Music sounds like the 70's band Yes in Icelandic. Love your picture.
kejoco (edited Jan 11, 2006)
This is a great picture but my first instinct was to laugh
I just pictured people heaving themselves off the cliff and falling, and the body position of the first guy together with the fact that he is out so far made me laugh

I'm actually a fan of sigur ros, and i am a fan of this drawing as well

I can hear the pound of the hoofbeats and I sorta feel like I'm choking on dust when I look at this. It's one of my favourite works I've seen on this site. I've come back to it many times and can sit and look at it for long periods because it evokes a place and time for me.
Artiste (Jan 16, 2006)
thank you very much :) I am flattered.

Gemmy, simply beautiful as eye see it!
ginny_91 (Apr 7, 2006)
this is so good, I really like it, it's like rainbow eye lid and you did a great job on the eye lashes. I will try to draw an eye too, but it's not going to be as good as your's, but I will try my best!<3
Sweetcell (Apr 7, 2006)
Amazing stunning piece Gemmy. Didn't I see something similiar drawn by DBA? I think that's how you graduate here, if you can do an eye your set.... I have one in mind, but only till I get a bit better.

This is simply wowzers.
gerbear (Apr 9, 2006)
Love the eye..very realistic and great against the textured background. Agreed aobut the view..u will always see one or the other, the top ledge of the lower lid or the bottom edge of the upper lid but not both, but since you worked from a ref, the original artist is the one who did that, therefore..yours is perfectly awesome!!! The Iris is startingly real!
