some of my earliest memories involve lying on the living room floor and watching star trek: tng with my mom and brother. it probably explains a lot.

worked a lot harder on this than i was planning to, but i had fun.

yeah we did that too and we would pretend to try and dodge the enterprise in the opening when it 'flew' toward the camera. Anyway this picture made me very happy :) awesome job.
Sweetcell (Apr 17, 2007)
Agreed, very much like you did it with a black pen on a sheet of printer paper (I do that a lot)

He was more stoic and serious than most Klingon's. Man needed to have more fun.

haha yeah-but oh man-I love Micheal Dorn's voice :)
taori (Apr 18, 2007)
did you know he was also the voice of weasel on I Am Weasel? that always cracked me up.

when the poorly drawn godzilla started to growl at her, she began to wonder if maybe she shouldn't have eaten the funny-looking mushroom.

...i don't really know what she's got in her right hand there. in my head i kept calling it a 'continuum transfunctioner.' i think i pulled that phrase from kingdom of loathing, but i'm not sure.

Maybe she has a peyote in her hands, that would explain her visions.
Klibese (Apr 15, 2007)
I read "Don't give up" and automatically think "Trust your instincts!" every time. I played waaaayy too much Star Fox 64 all those years ago...
That said, very interesting picture. There's something about the coloring of the wall and her face that stands out.
taori (Apr 15, 2007)
your father helped me like that too!

you rule.

"Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or an english toffee but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is an empty box filled with useless brown paper wrappers."

- Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man

edit- seriously, nobody ever watched the X-Files?

I think you have some good beginnings here. I am responding here to your request for comments on your last picture.
My first reaction to your style is the use of both line and "paint" I think you should tone back your lines a little... and be more tentative as to where you use them. Line that folows the form is most effective, and should not stand out more than the content of the picture (if you know what I mean). In otherwords... youre letting the line speak too much, and your use of it is not making sense. For example, the scribbly line on the palm of the hand.

This style of art can be very effective, but you need to refine it just a bit.... think about where you are placing your lines and why. You have an excellent sense of form. Use the line to bring that out! You asked for a comment and got an earful! :)

i'm so lost without you...

i am aware of all this picture's flaws. i am aware that it is messily drawn, carelessly colored, and without a background. and i think it's, like, the coolest thing i've ever done.
