less than half the stuff on it belongs there anyway these days. but surely you realize 2draw is rampant with corruption, bribes, and power abuse. that's how benevolent dictatorships work. ;)

True. True. And god knows they're preferable to those silly attempts at democracy where everything degenerates into petty squabbles and mud-slinging. Hey, I can play The Emperor's New Clothes as well as the next guy. I just hadn't realized it was prerequisite. (backs out of the room, bowing and tugging forelock)

well, it's more like I wanted the board space, and I was really going to DO something wih this piece, but lost interest :I
so why force myself to draw when I don't want to? +3+

Thank you... I'm sorry.. I just felt like I was being attacked because of how I do things.. Nothing I do is good enough. I only made this because a friend requested it. Not so I can be hassled about imperfections and little things other's don't like about it.

Monitor diferences...
Artiste (Feb 3, 2006)
I did a painting of Bob Dylan at home (if I knrew how to link it here I would). To me at home, it looks like a completed picture, subtle changes in the hair area which is mostly dark... the lapel of his coat is all dark at home too. Im at work now, and I took a look jjust to see from a diferent monitor, and to my surprise it looks like a completely diferent painting. The hair looks transparent and unfinished, and there is a purple line down the side of the lapel (which I thought was black). ...

I heard a story once, I can't remember all the details. It was about an Emperor and a painter. For whatever reason, the painter was faced with death for some infraction. The Emperor made a deal with the painter, a deal that if the painter could paint the most beautiful meaningful painting the Emperor had ever seen, his life would b spared. The painter thought long and hard. After the painter was finished with the painting the Emperor was floored by the pure genius and beauty of the painting. This is my version of that painting. The Emperor loved it because it was a brilliant concept, the bird already having left the painting both shows movement, insight, simplicity and lets the viewer imagine their own interpretation of a beautiful bird, therefore seeing one. I don't know if it's a true story or not, but I've always liked it.

It also really helps to use tablet pressure on size/opacity for clouds. Like a hella lot.
Axil62 (Feb 1, 2006)
Yup, forgot to mention that. ( I foolishly assume everyone uses it. Why wouldn't you want your tools to simulate a brush as closely as possible?)It's like.... yeah, it isn't gonna work out to well unless you do use pressure sensitivity.
pandabarrie (Jun 30, 2006)
oohhhuhHOLY SHIT!

i was looking through your gallery, stopped at this one for a bit and when i went to scroll down again, i could have sworn the clouds moved.....

I think I like how this turned out. Done unless anyone sees anything earthshatteringly wrong with it.

someone should grab tidbits like that people post and put them on the wiki

It's possible that she's over-encumbered by the weight of the bag or she's anticipating taking a step.
patienceisoverrated (Jan 30, 2006)
I think it's more possible that I didn't know that until now and just did it wrong. Or maybe wearing ridiculous high heels screws with the rules of proportion and balance? i know I'm always off balance when I wear them... XP. But whatever. I think rules like that are cool. Thanks.

Kasha Oil Painting.
Kasha (Jan 29, 2006)
Hi, long time no see. Sorry I haven't been on the boards lately, I haven't had much time. I did manage to do an oil painting. A lot of stuff is rather off but I haven't done an oil painting in 3 years. The style of it is inspired by Mucha and Klimt and it's 12"x"24. I'm deciding to sell it and I'm wondering if any of you are interested. Please memo me. Here is a picture. This is the only one that came out without the horrid gl...

I presume he means that he personally would prefer you did it in private because he'd rather not see it.

Just play nice people. People are allowed to critique. And people are allowed to disagree.

I personally find this picture pretty creepy. Probably because she has no hair.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Feb 17, 2006)
Thanks for that clarification. I don't like the picture at all myself, really, and that's not the point. I try to comply with the rules here, and I haven't broken any that I know of (intentionally, ever), but I WILL disagree when I disagree.
Zack (Feb 17, 2006)
I wasn't referring to rules. I was referring to a sense of common decency.

This was one of those times when you are on the fence about whether or not you really feel like drawing, then you do.

he was probably right. this picture is monochrome, after all, so it's not a good example. but I think it's safe to say that once someone is good, 'rules' aren't as important.
Sweetcell (Jan 27, 2006)
It's so simple, so loose, yet there's the true touch of realism, as much like impressionism. I'm getting to be a fan.

Thanks. I have my pressure sensitivity set to one notch below the highest pressure setting, but I guess that's just a personal preference, maybe I'm a little heavy handed and just need it that way.
