thanks so much everyone! :)
and mursku, after you pointed it out, I can see how that sudden contrast from blurred to sharp doesn't look right .. I'll have to deviate from the reference a bit and try to fix that.. thanks for the tips .. much appreciated :) now let's hope I can pull it off without guidance from the ref and make it look better.
flubbles, you're just hardcore :P but I'm glad to know you were only trying to "encourage me" next time maybe give me some tips where I went wrong, like mursku did :)

lol, OK! That is something else..very nice compliment, indeed. I just mentioned because I remember the monitor trouble you had once upon a time and wasn't sure. ...oh, and thought the left side was just a nice fade out of fur..very nice indeedyy!=D
elly (Mar 2, 2010)
Sunny, I'm impressed with your memory!!! I had a terrible monitor some time ago.....couldn't see half the stuff others were seeing (till I got my mac and went back to look thru my old draws... O_O) ewwww...lol! Thanks again my friend!
Aakyra (Mar 2, 2010)
Elly, this is so perfect! I am certain this handsome guy will be a wonderful addition to your friend's website!

I came across a photo showing this really cool Asian wall art a few years ago and hung on to it hoping to try my hand at this in my home one day.. they use paper that's bent and creased in just the right places & then mount them onto the wall, then they used directional light positioned just right to cast shadows of face profiles made by the bent paper...I thought it was quite clever! Since I haven't taken the time to try it first hand, I decided I'd draw it instead!! =) Kewl huh?

My first try at a this big guy.....and it's about as good as it's gonna get! As you can tell, I had a rough time getting that snout to look 'decent'....ugh! Still not happy with it...frustrating but I've got to move on from this one. At least I did learn some things along the way =)

Beautiful..the texture is amazing..you really should have done this in advanced...
elly (Mar 19, 2010)
Aww, thanks BMW =) I've done a few in advanced...just never sure when I begin a draw if that's the place it should be....no biggie =)
montezmaria (Mar 19, 2010)
I love the leather looking skin on this guy, wow. The skin has many stories to tell, different tones of gray and gold, aged and so beautiful. Love all your work, Elly!

very beautiful, so soft and tender. I love the tiny detail of buttons..you can almost feel the luxurious fabric of her gown and veil. :)

I did my parents wedding portrait in oil from the early 40's as a gift for my Dad and it was such a pleasure and seeing what you have done reminds me of it

The way you have depicted age with the sunken mouth, the collapsed brow and drooping eyelids, the wrinkled and thin translucent skin...and even the little hint of chin bristles...and yet her beauty and strong character shine through. What a portrait!
Roytje (Mar 29, 2010)
Thank you. I dont like to speak about my art, but this is one of favorites. :)

well, I have looked at many behinds over the last 45 yrs and have never seen butts that were stained except one who was so full of brown stuff that she died and the weirdest thing was she had holes all over her butt that each hole was filled with shit that had become so hard that it had turned to stone called fecalliths and I have treally seen shit come out of peoples mouths, that stuff really happens
enirroc (edited Mar 31, 2010)
A friend of my cousins had shit come out of his mouth because he messed up his insides by drinking too much, and was vomiting bile. It's gross, but I do feel bad for the guy.
lynnandcharlie (Mar 31, 2010)
it is gross, more so for the person going through it than for the people helping them
enirroc (Mar 31, 2010)
I'd imagine so.

I've got lots to learn.
enirroc (Mar 30, 2010)
Sure you do, but you've got a lot less to learn compared to the rest of us.
firecracker (Mar 30, 2010)
I feel that I've got lots to learn too.....sometimes I feel like I'm making no progress at all.....some things I just can't figure out...."lol". "flubadub"....I don't think I throw the words "very talented" around casually......when I use those words....I mean what I say.
lynnandcharlie (edited Mar 30, 2010)
thank you for your comments madscientist, davinci, FC and enrroc, I appreciate what you have to say, and as for bobstained,I do not put myself in the same class as he is in and may never get there but that is not the point, enjoying the process, learning, improving and communicating with other artists is
