1st Place: This entry pretty much exemplifies what I intended to come out of this contest. The muscle tissue is well rendered and appropriately placed. I put together a quick animation to show just how accurate Flubbles piece actually is: Skinless Cloxboy
davincipoppalag (Oct 6, 2008)
Congrats on First Flubbles!
Flubbles (Oct 6, 2008)
Thanks, i pretty much winged it.It was a great idea for a competition! Ive got a few tweaks to do after watching the animation clox did though lol i wont alter it to much though, ill probobly just leave it be though seeing as its already been judged.

Just a piece highlighting my worst addiction. =3
Kloxboy (Oct 5, 2008)
twit and HiroDaZero: People start smoking for a variety of reasons but primarily, smoking is a social accessory, it's used to "fit in" (at least initially). It's no surprise teenagers take to smoking so easily, it might as well be a trendy pair of shoes or pants (that gives you cancer). As for smoking to relieve stress or to relax, this only applies to established smokers. A non-smoker under stress would not benefit from a cigarette because they are not addicted to nicotine yet. When a smoker is stressing out, they tend to chain-smoke because stress mirrors the physical feelings of nicotine withdrawal pangs. Anytime a smoker is smoking, they're merely relieving withdrawal pangs, regardless what the situation is. So think of it this way, smokers smoke just to feel normal, so they don't feel the withdrawal pangs anymore. Non-smokers have no withdrawal to deal with, they don't need nicotine in their systems to feel normal. It's a pretty straight forward addiction and quiting is far easier than it seems to be.
mrwjinx (Oct 8, 2008)
i def use it to manage stress and my nerves...though im currently trying to cut back... X)
Kloxboy (Oct 8, 2008)
mrwjinx: Cutting back is one of the worst things you can do, it just makes the withdrawal pangs worse and quitting even harder to achieve. You can find such information in the book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. :D

haha yeah, thats what i have been hearing and reading alot of lately. >.< |

I felt like looking at this once more. I think it's the only abstract piece who ever brought tears to my eyes, and managed to do it twice. I'm trying to understand what's so great in it, and I really don't know. But I really love it.
Dr.Moony (Sep 22, 2012)
@shults: honestly the comment I think back to the most. It's cool to think that a painting can make someone tear up for a moment, especially since I never experienced it. Music is a stronger medium to me...I wonder why.
shults (edited Sep 22, 2012)
Nice to know.. :) It's not too often that sight amazes me in a good way, but it happened before, that I was so amazed and excited by a piece of art that I teared (it happened in museums, here, and by 'natural pieces of art' like the first time I saw a whale).

It's like a puzzle that I want to keep taking apart and putting back together again...and...it's beautiful! |

it looked way better before I screwed around with dodge and burn and then it was too late to go back, I hate that... anyway, I guess you never know what I'm gonna come out with
Pandora (Oct 1, 2008)
Very funny pic and I love the title.
Caddris (Oct 1, 2008)
I've never gotten the hang of dodge and burn myself. Still, it looks great.
lori (edited Oct 1, 2008)
dodge and burn is fun, you should explore it some more... on low opacity and flow with blend on(and using different colors), it's alot better that way... this pic came out like crap though, but I still like the idea behind it, thanks you guys

. . . Yeah, sorry. Anyway, this is great. You're really good with the effortless-looking gesture sketches.
