Yeah, the ear looks better now.

You draw the most awesome eyes.
Teapot (Jun 20, 2012)
What's this from? Beautiful job on the face.
Alter.Native (edited Jun 21, 2012)
Thank you both!

Teapot: it's a composition i thought about..basically..title comes from a Blade Runner quote, the angle of the face comes from a Fiona Apple image, while everything else, including characteristics, expression, bkg, colors etc, my own stuff.
Teapot (Jun 21, 2012)
Oh, Fiona. No wonder it looked familiar. I like it all very much. And thanks for the explanation.

Very cool, silk screen look, was this done with layers, and masking? I am a newbie and would love some pointers on how this is done. :D thanks
patienceisoverrated (edited Feb 7, 2008)
thanks, I use layers, I don't find masking very useful unless you are using your brush with anti-alias turned off, it's always screwing up around edges. I use the round brush on full flow/opacity with the soft edge, the third one down to the left of the brush size selector thingy, and then use the same eraser to whittle down or define the shapes. This is a lot like using the pen tool, if you're familiar with shi-painter, but without the flow. Lascaux has a really useful 'preserve layer transparancy' thing that can be used a little like mask and will preserve the smooth edges, that's how I did the crane in the feather shape. I drew in the feather shape on a new layer in all one colour, then preserved transparancy, so I could draw the crane in without messing up the details on the edges of the feathers. The girl and background are on the bottom layer, the spine on the next, and then the feathers and crane on top.

I am in awe. Very different I love it. :O

Imperfect (Jun 17, 2012)
Love how you painted this. The strokes you used in the background really add to the sense of movement.

You take your clothes off right after school
The tea is on, the flame is blue
You hope this won't take all afternoon
The TV's waiting to talk to you
It's your naked body on white velour
But there's no feeling, just weight on you
You get nauseous now as he speaks to you
Such proper language for acts so cruel
He says "We all follow the rules
We can't very well go and break them now, can we
For you?
Your older sisters, I've had them too
But you're my favorite, you know it's true
You look like your mother, in that thin disguise
Your parting mouth, your shutting eyes
And the way that you hate me, and the length of your hair
It's the reason I made you, it's the bond that we share
You see we're all trying to endure
You could easily go and make your own life somewhere
Couldn't you?"

With the sunbeams bright
You keep your eyes shut
Your alarm clock lies
Get to school on time
Where you're a bag of warm fluid
Where you're the corpse in the class
You walk so near to the lockers
You lay so low in the grass
Did you get that coat from the principal?
Did you get that bruise on the bus?
You should wash your hair more
You should look more like us
I saw you walking once under powder blue skies
You looked cold still, your color was high
And I tried to talk to you, but you walked right by
I don't know which I said then, hello or goodbye
We all want to be pure
But it isn't a very easy thing now, is it
To do?

that was a great movie.. I don't recognize this girl but well done
seven (Jun 16, 2012)
Thank you, Lori. Yeah, unfortunately I was very tired when I titled this, and that was the only name that came to mind, though the drawing in no way references the movie. Note to self ... don't title drawings at 4:45 a.m. XD

Miss_DJ (Jun 16, 2012)
it always is amazing to me when artist's can capture exactly what they see. well done.

Fantastic soft skin.
Flubbles (Oct 10, 2011)
Very nice, I like the style. It's not 100% photo realistic, I can definitely see some anime influence for some reason.
Imperfect (edited Oct 10, 2011)
Thanks everyone for the comments, and Flubbles, flattering that you think it nice (your art's amazing by the way, but I'm sure you already knew that :P) ...Ironically, I don't like anime, never watch it even, lol.
seven (Jun 15, 2012)
I love this one. :) I keep staring at the wonderful work on the clothing and her face is beautiful.

greatness to behold
Flubbles (Jun 14, 2012)
http://2draw.net/view/110591/ reminds me of this one I did, but I like your's better because there's a freeness to it.
Imperfect (Jun 14, 2012)
Thanks :) Woah, that one you did is way realistic. I'd like a strict patience to do that, lol.
Flubbles (Jun 14, 2012)
I've lost my patience...I'd rather develope the skill to draw more freely.
