this is cool, itchy! It reminds me of this program I saw where you absolutely were positive you were just looking at a some algae rock when the octopus on it suddenly darts off of it and away. Watch it in reverse directly after that..it's pretty cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmDTtkZlMwM
Flubbles (Jun 3, 2011)
The thumb doesn't do it justice.

from a picture of chinese artist ai wei wei with his artwork, a room full of one hundred million porcelain sunflower seeds.

some context..from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai_Weiwei In October 2010, Sunflower Seeds was installed at the Tate Modern Turbine Hall, London. The work consists of one hundred million porcelain "seeds," each individually hand-painted in the town of Jingdezhen by 1,600 Chinese artisans, and scattered over a large area of the exhibition hall.[33] The artist was keen for visitors to walk across and roll in the work to experience and contemplate the essence of his comment on mass consumption, Chinese industry, famine and collective work. However, on 16 October, Tate Modern stopped people from walking on the exhibit due to health liability concerns over the porcelain dust.[34] In February 2011, a 220-pound (100 kg) pile from Sunflower Seeds sold for $559,394 (well above its high estimate of $195,000) at Sotheby's in London.[35]
He is currently under arrest by chinese authorities for alleged 'tax evasion' .
davincipoppalag (May 21, 2011)
He's in Beijing... Everything is China :0)
dorothyblueeyes (May 22, 2011)
so, some reason this fabulous piece of reality is not in showcase? everything else detailed, and fantastically tightly rendered and licked,is in showcase. Besides, it's great.

I've done it a few times myself, if you dont do the drawing in one go though you have to remember the exact time to pause it for next time.
Axil62 (May 9, 2011)
or you can pause the video, do a screen print, paste it in whatever paint perogram you may have, crop whatever part you want to use as the ref and save it. Then it'll be there whenever you want to come back to it.

Those skintones are very nice! Loving the cool shadows.
ChalkDust (Mar 21, 2011)
Yeah, repeating what was already said, but the skin tones are really great. And the bit of spine poking out under the skin is wonderful too.
dorothyblueeyes (Mar 22, 2011)
yeah, that's really a great painting, but how did the model ever get out of the chiropractor's office again?
itchymonkey (Mar 23, 2011)

itchymonkey (Mar 18, 2011)

Frankly,I think itchy's is better than the Picasso. (My opinion.) Itchy's work was far harder to do,trickier, and took more detail, patience, than the Picasso. All the work of Itchy's is more delicate, subtle, and that was never a trait that Picasso could do.He was just a big, bold BULL. I think it's easier to make sweeping, bold statements; but the subtle, tricky hard stuff of depicting reality, without making it too stiff, is very demanding. Excellent, Itchy.
itchymonkey (Mar 23, 2011)
well thanks, you are too kind.
lori (Mar 23, 2011)
this bulged my eyes out :) I love it.
marcello (Mar 24, 2011)
being a successful artist is just as much about being a good salesman as being a good artist. you have to understand the works in the context of the times, how they are presented, and how they are received.

monetary worth is arbirtrary, anyway. why do people pay thousands of dollars for some t-shirt that a rock star wore? if I were to tell you I had a painting by pablo picasso in my museum, you'd be far more interested in visiting than if I said I had some schmuck you've never heard of. that's worth money.
