deformed---> wanted it out of my studio. If you ever want to finish it, knock yourself out. Otherwise, I don't care either way.

Is this good so far? Any thing you want changed?
patienceisoverrated (edited Mar 12, 2006)
Eeee! It's looking cuuute... one thing, the yellow and blue at the top of the socks seems too bright for the rest of the colours... maybe lighten it up a bit?
Deformed (Mar 12, 2006)
Ok... I'll work on it.
comd (Mar 12, 2006)
Excellent concept for a character. I have to agree about the blue and yellow there: the character has a charming muted look about her in terms of the colors, and the bright blues and yellows draw the eyes too much there.

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Cooler than cool. I love this robot.

I'd say a ton more, but then I'd just feel redundant.

Livin in the machine world.... great pic!

the soft lines are impressive when the subject matter is usually so hard and metallic. i would love to know how you go about painting something so soft. the background is just as intriguing as the subject.

It looks like things are where they should be, but it's awfully blurred. Sharpen up some things and it will be much better. This might help, too http://cellosoft.com/2draw/wiki/index.php/Lascaux_Sketch

comd (edited Apr 4, 2006)
Very nice, but perhaps it could benefit from just a few hard edges like davincipoppalag suggested? When all the edges are uniformly blurry and obscure, it sort of draws the eyes away from the picture since nothing's in focus, and so there's nothing to really draw the eye into the canvas. It's like there's no foreground subject in the picture. It could just be a few selective places like the upper edges of the eye lid or the corners of the mouth or the cast shadow of the nose: just something to pop things out a bit and pull the eyes inward. The thumbnail doesn't suffer from that so much since, at the scale, it looks like there are actual hard edges in the picture, but up close it looks more obscure than the thumbnail which is generally the reverse of what one might expect. Perhaps if the pictures are meant to be obscure up close, it could be done with some sort of texture or some painterly brush strokes. That makes it so there are new things to discover up close where the overall picture sort of dissolves into this interesting array of shapes and patterns and textures, but a digital blur/soft effect on an entire picture can destroy the clarity of it. Anyway, I hope you don't mind our suggestion: I wouldn't bother if I didn't already like the picture.

Oooo. I love the way you've mixed the desaturated tones of the hat and her skin with the supersaturated colours of her lips, her kimono and the background. The hat is *ahem* well, dammit, amazing. Love the tension in the chin strap/skin and the way you've just managed to hide her eyes from the viewer...so we're always trying to peer up under the edge of the hat. Critiques? Hmmm. That gorgeous bouncelight underneath her chin makes me wish there was a tiny bit of shine on the skin of her cheek. But's that nitpicking. I love this.
comd (Mar 19, 2006)
It's insane how much subtle texture is in the skin here. I can't begin to imagine how to do this with lascaux sketch, and it'd still be incredible regardless of the medium.

Ahhh, D&D... It can really get the creative juices flowing, enough to pull a person out of artist's block.

This is a great drawing, but she seems to be missing something... Where's her musical instrument? Bards always carry around a lute, or something, right? :)
Childlike_Vampire (Nov 14, 2005)
I didn't understand whatever Noremac was talking about, but I'll keep it in mind regardless, lol. To answer DBA, she's probably got some wine kiped from a local inns stores. As for her instrument, the way I understood it was that you could sing or recite poetry to use songs, not just instruments. I'm having her be a whistler. :D

i made a gnome bard who took breakdancing as his secondary preform skill :D and beatboxing as his actual bard conduit. :3 ah the possabilities
