Warming up - haven't drawn for a few days. Found something like a dragon in this one.

Looks very lizard'ish :)
Thats something good i mean, because some people miss the relation between dragons and real reptiles.

very good sketch!
Kloxboy (May 1, 2006)
I think that's brilliant. I like the style you used and the the structure of the neck keeps me looking at this piece.

Just searching for more things through scribble. I'm hoping to find ideas to combine together to make into something. The errors don't bother me so much at this stage - just putting down thoughts.

Cool. What do you do with the mace-like thing? Is that for tenderizing meats?
DoOp (Apr 27, 2006)

Took this one slightly past the scribble stage. I was thinking about the Silent Hill movie when I drew it - I loved that movie.

Trying out Shi Painter: it's got a pretty nice line quality with the pen tool.

I like scribbling. I find interesting ideas that look like crap. I guess it's sort of like free writing. I like boobs.

Not sure but I keep thinking Warhol Elvis...or zombie. Either way its an interesting posture, and the hand area is very well done for scribbles. I appreciate your constant search for knowledge, and good attitude on the board. You have "skillzzzzz". :)

Tried starting with a cube this time. The timer's a bit short - I had to reload lascaux somewhere in the middle to get the ink flowing again.

Looks a bit like Ron Pearlman, another one well done comd.
gerbear (Apr 27, 2006)
imho this is excellent!
Kloxboy (Apr 28, 2006)
Ron Pearlman, yes, or maybe Tom Waits. Of course, Tom and Ron look alike as well. :) Nice work Comd.

Some usual practice scrap with a weird ending:

started with a circle, attached a jaw, drew some eyes, drew a nose (with nostrils and all), decided the eyes looked sort of anime-ish, emphasized that, drew some lips, went back and erased some lines to make the nose look simpler and more anime-like, scribbled in a neck and some ears, drew some crazy hair, and called it finished.

Can't decide if it's a guy or a girl. I'm leaning towards girl, but the jaw is odd (I was planning a guy when I drew it). It was just a weird circle of discovery.

I like economy of lines, and would like to find a cartoon style I can draw comfortably - doesn't have to be very original: I'm mostly interested in the storytelling aspect for illustration, and economy is most important there for me.

I see the anime influence, absolutely.

But, It still looks more like a work of Comd, rather anime. I think your studies and knowledge on anatomy moves you to put whats really there (even in impression) instead of accomplishing the whole anime look. The nose, eyes, and lips remind of of anime. The rest of the faces structure is "you" (if you know what I mean). I do know this however, if you took time/effot and really wanted to get an anime style to add to your collection, you could. Easily. Let me know if you do, I may be able to help out with some links and subdivisions within the anime style for you to check out.
Kloxboy (Apr 26, 2006)
That's awesome. You've got a nice variety of skills, I think everyone is aware of this now (or they should be). ROCK!
Sweetcell (Apr 26, 2006)
Yes, I see the anime influence in the facial features, but the higher end Anime, Miyazaki.

Comd, do more color stuff, I bet it would be amazing. Chin is a little muscualr, but considering how so many anime men are so feminine (just don't understand that) this can definately pass as a boy.

love the face expression and the sketchyness :)

It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been practicing a lot in my sketchbook, drawing animals, foliage, buildings, and skies and also been doing at least half an hour of constructing figures every day in hopes of getting comfortable drawing and creating enough things to start doing complete fantasy art drawings/paintings.

Anyway, here's a quick made-up tree using a scribble technique I'm learning with pen and ink.

Nice little sketch, I am a lover of all fantasy since I grew up with it with comics and D& D as well. It is my very favorite genre. Space fiction is next. Nice to see you doing things here also. You have to start working with color though, your a little shy and tentative when it comes to color. Do more comd, your pieces break up the confluence of all the manga here.
comd (Apr 26, 2006)
Thanks - I'm trying to avoid color though. It's my drawing skills that need the most work. Doing color can come later, once I learn how to draw.
kristine (Apr 26, 2006)
once I learn how to draw.

...that made me laugh. :)
Sweetcell (Apr 26, 2006)
Wait a minute, then your monkeys been doing all the drawing?

Cheeky yes. Fudgepot comd, fudgepot.
