I was trying to draw just an imagined face - struggling- suddenly decided to use the "fill" option on the background and ended up with slightly psychadelic effects, so added reflections of the colours into the hair- overall not sure if it works- but i liked the colours so have submitted it! LOL

I like it too.. kinda looks like she has on a plastic scarf or a glass helmet.. anyway it's neat. And I like the face a lot.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 17, 2004)
And I also like it... I especially like the way you did the eyes.
davincipoppalag (Apr 17, 2004)
I like this too. The green on her chin and lip disturbs me a bit, but only because it looks like she needs a tissue. This looks like it was done with colored pencils too, nice.
cmb (Apr 18, 2004)
I thought about the green a longtime - but I wanted her to look plasticy somehow after the hair reflections....

I touched up a couple of places that I thought were a little too out of focus, but I didn't want to *sharpen* it too much as I like my clouds soft and fuzzy looking. I didn't make the cloud any wispier as it is a thunderhead (used a ref pic for the cloud) and it does look that thick and heavy. Also brightened the horizon a bit. I like it better now.
Knockoff (Apr 18, 2004)
I love this O_O. Its soo cool. The color of the cloud is awesome. I love the rainbow. Plus I have seen a few nights/evenings like this by my house. more/less the shape of them/.
Excelent job, DBA!
Aubrey (Apr 20, 2004)
The way you bowed the clouds makes them seem really heavy and close almost like 3D effect when you just focus on them and let your eyes see the rest of the picture through perspective. It's great DB.

Hola Zep! are you missing youdraw too? Its interesting to see your work in colour - what do you think of the tools on here?
zep (Apr 17, 2004)
hi c...i think is the novelty...(missing youdraw, i mean)...i really don´t like much in color, what do you think?....the tools are really fantastic, and the show animation property...
laurael (May 21, 2004)
I really like the shadows in this one, zep...very cool...

Oh must try landscapes after seeing this!
debem (Apr 30, 2004)
I love the colors!!! I'd like to walk right into your painting and dip my feet in the ocean.
emmamommalag (edited May 4, 2004)
I just looked at all the versions.. The final version is very nice, but I think #2 is the best. The darker foreground allows your eye to be drawn to the water. It's a calmer and more inviting scene.

nice work! I agree with the above comments- sometimes the blend option helps, othertimes it can look to fuzzy...I think this reminds me slightly of botticellis venus rising from the waves...
longway (Apr 4, 2004)
thanks cm, like the name implies, i've come a long way, from where this drawing thing started almost 2 years ago now. and it is partly because of the help i have recieved from gifted artist's like both of you and others...can't thank everyone enough....
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 4, 2004)
I'm not sure how he has this thing set up, but I've lost my connection completely a couple of times right after it began to submit.. came back and there my drawing was. Other places you lose it, you lose it. This is nice. For me to blend is absolutely necessary, but then to go back and paint another layer to add definition is also necessary to keep it from being smudgey or blurry. Great proportions and movement in this one.
Pandora (Apr 4, 2004)
This is wonderful for just learning the tools. Just wait until she becomes more real to look at. They may boot you off. lol just kidding. I would like to see you expand with a little more definiton in the back ground..Wonder what it would be like if you showed her shadow? Just curious. Very pretty and again the hair I want.

these silhouettes are fine, hope to see more!
tappie_chan (Apr 4, 2004)
this is very pretty and graphic-designy looking! i like it! the only thing i would say is if you're gonna blur the whole pic, make sure that you get all the little spots. it looks just a tad bit odd. its no big deal, though. nice job! ^____^
