Both of the revisions are really good. The depth in this one, not just from the background but, from the face and everything in the bird is really cool. Almost feels alive.

I love when you experiment Chris
cmb (Sep 23, 2007)
cheers davinci- you are a star! I noted this was moved by a moderator- probably because I drew too fast..11 minutes- well I cant possbly have put any thought or effort into it can I - obviously this is a childish scribble by a 9 year old.... part of the reason why i dont come here often is because of this kind of thing, just because something is simply or quickly drawn doesn't mean that it lacks credibility. I could have left this for 20 mins and then posted it- voila a 1/2 hour drawing- but because I was happy that it was finished in a short time i get penalised... I dont think Im wonderful or brilliant- but- good artists know what they want to draw and can draw fast.... goodbye 2draw for the time being.
staci (Sep 24, 2007)
i don't think getting moved to a different board is a form of punishment. you really shouldnt look at it as an insult, or a judgement on your talent/skill. thats how i look at it anyway, im not sure why it was moved but who cares? people still get to see it and enjoy it no matter what board it is on.
cmb (Sep 29, 2007)
thanks staci, I think I had had a bad day and I was getting frustrated, I see your point of view and agree...

cmb (edited Sep 23, 2007)
see this was edited with a penalty by a moderator too! tell you what- bump them all down to beginner level! Im obviously rubbish at this ( JillJJ davinci and wraith sorry for this but I needed to say something) I have found a site called sketchfu.com which is FAR friendlier and much less super critical!!!! GOODBYE 2draw!
staci (Sep 24, 2007)
i heard that site sucks. gluck!
Wraith (Sep 25, 2007)

Did this with my left hand. Don't know if it counts since I'm left handed, but I usually draw with my right hand here and this was very awkward and it felt like it took foreverr. Must switch mouse buttons back now.

Congratulations Mooki, "Quizical" is awarded first place for Contest Week 58: Opposite Hand Drawing. I love the stylistic approach to this piece. The more I look at this the more I'm reminded of the style of Mucha and Muntz, with the feel of oils brushed on thickly and loosely on the canvas. That it was done with the left hand makes it even more remarkable. It seems almost a glimpse of a much larger canvas and makes you want to know what the rest of piece looks like. I feel like I stumbled in on her private thought's. If this were on a wall my attention would be focused on it. Wonderfully done Brooki.

I wanted to get the artists here to expand their talents beyond what they can do by having them go opposite to what they're comfortable with. This was a good exercise in control and format and allowed people to explore untapped areas. For these two weeks right and left merged and produced great results. I wasn't dissapointed. Though I know many of the artists here temporarily suffered, :) I'm glad they put so much effort into this, and I know from reading the comments that lessons were learned (and hands were placed in bowls of ice water) The truly hard part has been on my end. This one was a toughie to judge.
mooki (edited Aug 19, 2007)
oh my god...

artists really do suffer for their work.

i geuss it pays off huh?
:D

THANK YOU!
