edit: Alrighty.....I really can't stand looking at this picture in my pile of unfinished work. And I really don't feel as if I can finish it either. It does not really remind me of Shinya at all, his face just looks completely different from what I was trying to get off my reference saved in my computer. I am sorry for anyone who wanted to see this done but I am not going to finish it unless someone can really convince me to do so.

yay for xod... cept I dont agree with him XD oh well... yeah, y'know, it sucks when people spam the farking boards with crap. really... cause this is crap... the least you could do is add a background (a nice one that implies that you put some effort into it, even if it was clicking a button with the fill tool)..... I dont even see how it took 10 minutes... damn.

wellllllll...... if a)its hair aint that shiney or b) the light is low, then there wont be that much of a shine... I was trying to focus on a light source that comes from the front... :P or something... I dunno... I'll add some more shine :) XD

Well, portraits aren't my cup of tea. It's something that I am working on. However, I think you need more contrast. Your darks aren't quite dark enough. Same goes with the lights. As for the hair, you may want to try softening up the strokes for the strands. It looks a bit harsh. Try doin' the entire shape of the hair a darker base color and then with lighter colors highlighting some parts to give it a more realistic feel. But definitely use thin strands and lower the opacity more.

Edit: Oh and one more thing. You might want to detail/sharpen it some, rather than the slightly blurry feel that it has right now. For example the lips, eyes, etc.
