"What is this rumpus?" ... "What is that mysterious ticking noise?"
Excellent work, I especially love how you captured his expression, and the look of his office.
Wonderful!
(the quotations are from "Harry Potter Puppet Pals" off of youtube, they make me laugh and break up long days of school!)

This is from a beautiful photograph Dave took. (as most of his photographs are... exceptionally beautiful) I'm happy that he gave me permission to paint it, I enjoyed it so.

Thank you for sharing it with me, Dave. :)

I took an intermission between revisions and went to Surfside Beach for a week. :D

this bad boy is so getting nominated! the colors are amazing and it's so realistically bright that i feel the need to squint my eyes a bit.

I really like this. I can't understand how you do it. But it's really imaginative, I like abstract art.. It makes your fantasy dance.. ^^
nekodesu (Aug 18, 2007)
All the movement effect is very eye-catching. :)

I work with a mouse, and not a tablet, I have done this with a referance picture of Alan Rickman from the film Sense and Sensibility (1995), and I've done it because I love this actor, and I like to paint things I really care about. Personally I don't consider this sort of thing (a strict copy by hand) a very original or artistic product. But, I like to do them. I think I learn to "see" the colours, and might by doing these, maybe be able to do better original work later. Hope someone likes it. - Miranda

thank you very much! =)
fleeting_memory (Aug 18, 2007)
You know-I've never seen that movie.
davincipoppalag (Aug 18, 2007)
I dont know why everyone is so down on using a "photo reference"., If you draw from life.. the model is a "reference",, if you draw from memory the mental image is a "reference".. just me blowin off about it.. this looks good . I would like things a bit sharper but I'm a pain in the ass about that.

I wanted to work from a picture and I really like the way it turned out. I think his chin ended up a little too close to his mouth, but for the most part it still looks like him. I'm very critical of my own work, like any artist, and it's hard for me to be truly happy with a finished product but sometimes you just have to know when to fold.

Really impressive! :)
Twhippix (Aug 18, 2007)
I love this. It is exactly sort of the style I myself like to do, and this is a very excellent picture. It has composure, feeling and all. I like the oil-paintig look, and the shadowing is excellent, it's just enough detail! - Miranda
erilu (Aug 26, 2007)
It does look like him, good technique. Sufjan is so handsome...and a great singer too :P

Thanks very much. I'll have another go now. I'll make some more effort. I just wanted to check the shi-painter, to see if it was the one I was used to. Check my Deviant Art, if you want to see more of my erlier work. =) This seems like a very nice board.
