What traditional media is similar to the oekaki programs?

Hello everyone!! I have really sad news, My tablet PC crashed so I can't produce anymore oekaki work. Eventhough I have seen wonderful work with a mouse, I don't think I have the patience to tryout a mouse drawing. I still would like to draw and produce some art, So here is my question... What Traditional media is similar to the painting style that shi painter has? I've tried acryilc and watercolor but it's not the same smooth texture that shi painter or any other oekaki program has.
