Color adds something, but takes away some of the fun visual effect, hmmm...
enjoydotcom (Apr 2, 2007)
Me too, but it still looks great.
dorothyblueeyes (Apr 2, 2007)
Very good job,and accurate; like one of those illusion pictures; to me,it looks like a stairwell, from the top.

Getting away from my usual strict symmetry (sorta - at least top vs. bottom :P)...Exploring art deco feel.

This looks like a cosmic snowflake!
Naima (edited Mar 10, 2007)
Thanks! :)

And hey, snowflake... That's an idea! I've seen several of those cool closeup pictures of snowflakes that look beveled/faceted sheets of glass. Storing that one away for later, might have to try my hand at something closer to that one of these days... Cool :-D
davincipoppalag (Mar 10, 2007)
That will be fun to see~
cmb (Mar 10, 2007)

Amazing how color can add depth like so. Nice work :)
Kloxboy (Mar 2, 2007)
Solve: Absolutely true, all the elements of any given image seen are merely a series of colors causing the various visual effects we see, including depth.
Naima (Mar 10, 2007)
Oops, slipped away again for a while - guess I'm only going to manage to be an occasional poster here no matter my intentions :P~. But anyway - thanks again, guys! :-D
Miss_DJ (Apr 22, 2007)
fun! You've got a lot of patience to do this kind of draw.

oh that's nifty to the max, thanks for sharing.
i gotta play with that later XD

and yeah me too, i'm too amature at the applet to progress, not to mention my drawing skills are crap.
i'm left handed and i'm roced to use my right hand...and it's amouse too so :(
Naima (Jan 14, 2007)
Wow - you're left handed, and you've done all your work right handed with a mouse? Holy cow - major kudos! I hear you about the mouse, though; I'm seriously considering getting a tablet one of these days... Though given what some of the people here can do with a mouse (just one example: did you see that car in Showcase by Aubrey? O-M-G), I feel like I'll be wimping out for doing that :P. Ah well - happy drawing :)

Finally went back to finish this one up...
cmb (Feb 3, 2007)
I like what you are doing- and thanks for the info! I used to draw spirograph patterns years ago,,,, so reminicent- .... and you draw righthanded with a mouse though you are left handed? Brilliant work! As one of the people here with a tablet I have to say how much I admire people drawing with a mouse... regretably even with a tablet you cant always do wonderful work... see my latest awful mess!

I always enjoy your pieces. I'm waiting for you to do a bigger, more complex piece...or wishing rather...maybe? :D
Naima (Jan 31, 2007)
Thanks, Klox! And no worries, your waiting won't be in vain :-D. Just getting my feet wet again after lotsa days without drawing (been mega busy!). Was too impatient to be very ambitious with this one, but stay tuned... ;)
Sweetcell (Jan 31, 2007)
No worries, I prefer Lascaux myself and use it most of the time. The best thing about Shi are the tones, and watercolor if you can master it. I only suggested it in case you wanted to show the animation of how you do these things. The only thing I can suggest to show how you do these is if you sent every revision seperately and explained what you did. But since you use so many layers I can imagine that would be a bit of a nightmare. But now my eyes are buggin' out looking at this. Really makes your head swivel. X)
Naima (Feb 2, 2007)
Thumbs up, Sweetcell :-D. I'll probably play around with it in the studio area for a while, maybe one of these days I'll gin up something postable. It will be good to have different tools to play around with, if I can get over not having all the ones in Lasc at the same time ;). And yeah, with some of the more layered patterns it would be rough to get the full explanation in there - but no worries, I type fast :-D. I worry more about having billions of lines of text posted here, that might drive people crazy. I can always memo you the details if you're interested in something particular, though!

Glad you like this one :)

Wow! That's really cool. I like seeing the process too. Well done.
Naima (Jan 21, 2007)
Muchas Gracias! :-D
Sweetcell (edited Jan 21, 2007)
I think the only way we'll ever know is if you did these in Oekaki so we could see the animation, so get thee to Oekaki so we may sample your style m'dear. Did I ever say I liked these or was I just offering you a car because I was mezmerized? I like in any case. :)

Just read one of your comments. 64 layers? Oh my God. `@__@'
Naima (Jan 21, 2007)
Oh, is that where the animation comes from? Had no idea! Ok, I'll have to give Oekaki a try next time! Glad you like them :) :). And I'll keep hoping for that car... tee hee XD.

And yeah - ridiculous number of layers :P~. If I figure out how to finesse the tools more, maybe I won't have to resort to such obnoxious brute force methods *laugh*
