Nocturnal_Romance (Aug 18, 2007)
Squint your eyes and look at this.
Sweetcell (Aug 18, 2007)
It's metallic and 3D in the thumb, yet organic in life size. I like where you've been going.
Kloxboy (Aug 18, 2007)
Thanks guys. I think smoothing out some of the edges would improve this image, I'll try that on a future piece.

ah, it was meant to look good from a thumbnail or something small. D:

It's kinda cute and ya got a little 3D thing goin in it
backmagicwoman (Aug 18, 2007)
I agree. It's cute and I really like the way you textured the tree.
fleeting_memory (Aug 18, 2007)
It does look good from the thumbnail-though up close her face looks kinda long.
Miss_DJ (Aug 18, 2007)
I like the 3d-ish look especially seen in the thumb. I like the way you drew the tree, too!

I work with a mouse, and not a tablet, I have done this with a referance picture of Alan Rickman from the film Sense and Sensibility (1995), and I've done it because I love this actor, and I like to paint things I really care about. Personally I don't consider this sort of thing (a strict copy by hand) a very original or artistic product. But, I like to do them. I think I learn to "see" the colours, and might by doing these, maybe be able to do better original work later. Hope someone likes it. - Miranda

Twhippix (Aug 18, 2007)
thank you very much! =)
fleeting_memory (Aug 18, 2007)
You know-I've never seen that movie.
davincipoppalag (Aug 18, 2007)
I dont know why everyone is so down on using a "photo reference"., If you draw from life.. the model is a "reference",, if you draw from memory the mental image is a "reference".. just me blowin off about it.. this looks good . I would like things a bit sharper but I'm a pain in the ass about that.

This is good work Jilly~ I love the eyes.
JillJJ (Aug 17, 2007)
Thanks Dave, I am working a little more with wiki tutorials to get more proficiency with the tools. This was an experiment with a pastel effect, more a learning experience. I appreciate your comments, thanks so much! Jillj
Miss_DJ (Aug 17, 2007)

Something to get my flow on and understand the Oekaki interface a bit more with color and mixing. If I were to describe the feeling of the medium, I'd would say it's somewhere between oil paints and pastels. I like it muy mucho.

Very nice expression. I hope you can benefit from this experience. Keep going with these large formats.
Kloxboy (Aug 14, 2007)
Awesome details. A lot of fine brushwork there, really gives this piece depth.
davincipoppalag (Aug 14, 2007)

Gah, I think I ruined the drawing with the hair. *cries*

I changed some things from the original. I probably screwed up the teeth. She's toothy anyways. =/

Lol, thanks mooki!
Sweetcell (Aug 16, 2007)
That looks like my cousin Shawna (the one I don't get on well with) The teeth are a bit prominant, but it's a great monotone piccy Mocha.
Mocha_Bean (Aug 17, 2007)
Thank you very much Sweetcell!

Holy SH*#T! That beret looks incredible! I used to wear a Maroon Beret when I was airborne. And you are dead on with the beret in this drawing.
davincipoppalag (Aug 17, 2007)

Not to worry.. they probably have a pill or a plastic surgery technique to give them to you. I like your style, it's different and fun
DreameRadial (Aug 16, 2007)
I'm not too sure, most things out there remove wrinkles. Who would ever want to remove those cool laugh lines?
Miss_DJ (Aug 16, 2007)

That's the moment when emotions take over and start to flow out: when the frustrations and the pain and the tears all break through the wall and cut loose. You do this shit so well Klox
clover_pocky (Aug 16, 2007)
*nods quietly in agreement*

I understand.
