Wowie, At first I just saw the small star in the center then the other popped out. What detail LL. Grand and Nicely done.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 24, 2004)
This is neat, looks like stained glass with sunlight filtering through. Wish I was barely awake. I'm almost always wide awake. That's the problem! :)
laurael (Apr 24, 2004)
This is cool...why are you sighing?
emmamommalag (Apr 24, 2004)
*passes Dead some melatonin. I'm almost always awake, not necessarily wide. I love this one, Lor. It's cool with the light seeming to filter through it. A much happier picture.. hope this means you're coming out of your funk.

well first off it has to be hidden to do that. second off, it has to be advanced. =P
LovelyLori (Apr 22, 2004)
well poopers... s'ok, ya live ya learn...
thug (Apr 22, 2004)
I always keep mine hidden and twice I have started ot intermediate, run out of room, and then switched up to advanced using the edit/delete option
Aubrey (Apr 23, 2004)
Yeah this is a great picture Lori, try what Thug said!!! It'll give ya more room so you can finish. Although right now I think everyone agrees it already looks great. Reminds ya of every puppy you ever lost. Sort of like if you could see it and knowing you couldn't touch it and it was gone. Sad feeling

laurael (Apr 21, 2004)
You did good lolo...Heh...like that abbreviation.
You'll get 'real' good at these kinds of pics and have the rest of us beggin' for more...uh, wait...more, more...now, now...
Pandora (Apr 21, 2004)
How intimidating this would be for me, I think I could finish it in a years time. Amazing lines to get you to this point. wow.
Aubrey (Apr 23, 2004)
Why on earth would DB wanna shoot such a nice picture. You're way too hard on yourself Lori, this is very pretty. Like Thug said.. the wildness of the art really goes with the subjects in the picture :)

Wow you must be very patient, Lori. This is really nice.

I drew this very sad pic just to show what happened to me earlier...(I am too busy at the moment to make a good one)
I took the dog out for his umpteenth leak of the day, and I was standing in the middle of the yard, when a purple finch comes fluttering all around me! It then landed on my stomach for about 5 seconds, then flew to a nearby tree and just looked at me for the longest time... It's paying off, all these bird drawings I've been doing, I'm tellin' ya!

Lol Lori.. from the look on your face here.. I think that might have been a goose! hee hee hee
thug (edited Apr 19, 2004)
Damn, how come I only attract bugs? I can tell lots of stories about me beating my own ass trying to get a bug off of me, but never a bird. I also attract the strangest people in line at the grocery store too (fyi). Love the picture, you are a trip Lori!
laurael (Apr 19, 2004)
It must have been tellin' ya to draw a finch next.
I only seem to attract bees...it all started when I was 5 and got stung on the top lip. No matter where I am or what I'm doing...bees. One even 'dive bombed' me over and over, to the point that I had to scram for the back door and couldn't get back into the house fast enough, lol.
LovelyLori (Apr 19, 2004)
lol... you are all so funny... dba, yes, you MUST draw your experience, lol... that's too hilarious, I think I would crap my pants if that happened to me!, this was shocking enough.... When I told my father and stepmother about this, they said they think it might be the same finch that let them get about a foot away from it the day before, and they were talkin' to it and all, and it just sat there lookin' at 'em.... weird l'il thang... and poor laur... dive bombed, lolllll

ya, I was actually seeing bright green spots for a while once this was done... not nice! lol
staci (Apr 18, 2004)
wow lor..good job..the shadows on the flower make itlook realistic and the bird as always ...i just wish the bg had more something....gradient color..a horizon? dunno
LovelyLori (edited Aug 4, 2004)
ya me too, kinda... all of these bird books we have, the backgrounds are very unfocused, most of them anyway... of course, they want to focus mainly on the birds... but... doesn't make life easy for copycats such as myself... hehe
RavioloiTheDancingClown (Apr 18, 2004)
i was dissapointedd when i saw it was a bird and not a...... ..hummer

from National Audubon Society(North American Birds) front cover pic
I don't know what to do the background, that is always a major prob for me... I'd like to make some hint of foliage, blurred .... but damned if I know the best technique for that...and I should've done it in the beginning!

I love your boidie. The butt crack, on the other hand, well, let's just say...I now can't get it out of my mind...lol.
Gigandas (Apr 16, 2004)
It's finished XD.I really like the bird's features^^.Something about the wings makes it look incomplete though.....it could be that there's too much of a solid area on its wings and it clashes with the detailed texture of its body. But the body itself is really well done. The night sky goes well with it too.Another awesome piece :)...
craptastic_spaztic (Apr 16, 2004)
WOW! Much impressed. Big thumbs up.

Very cute Lori, you draw birds really well.

Well, you just gotta watch it! What is the matter with you?!!?? She even makes a dress out of these horrible green drapes! Go watch it! (And while you're at it, watch Thelma and Louise and The Quick and the Dead) There's nothing better or more powerful than a beautiful southern bell packin' heat. ;)
LovelyLori (Apr 14, 2004)

Pantera (Apr 13, 2004)
Very nice, you did a great job on this.
davincipoppalag (Apr 13, 2004)
I like this, but I think I would like it better if Abe was darker so he seemed to float in front of the flag instead of in it? Mary Todd Lincoln wasted coffee???
DinoFlorist (Apr 14, 2004)
Abraham Lincoln actually led a very interesting life. His wisdom and temperance came later. He was really a dark horse candidate. His motives, I believe, were pure, but many of them were probably not for the reasons that people idealize him. I think that if you were to research a president, he would be one of the most interesting ones for you to look up. Also, George Washington rules.
