twit and HiroDaZero: People start smoking for a variety of reasons but primarily, smoking is a social accessory, it's used to "fit in" (at least initially). It's no surprise teenagers take to smoking so easily, it might as well be a trendy pair of shoes or pants (that gives you cancer).

As for smoking to relieve stress or to relax, this only applies to established smokers. A non-smoker under stress would not benefit from a cigarette because they are not addicted to nicotine yet. When a smoker is stressing out, they tend to chain-smoke because stress mirrors the physical feelings of nicotine withdrawal pangs. Anytime a smoker is smoking, they're merely relieving withdrawal pangs, regardless what the situation is. So think of it this way, smokers smoke just to feel normal, so they don't feel the withdrawal pangs anymore. Non-smokers have no withdrawal to deal with, they don't need nicotine in their systems to feel normal. It's a pretty straight forward addiction and quiting is far easier than it seems to be.

i def use it to manage stress and my nerves...though im currently trying to cut back... X)
Kloxboy (Oct 8, 2008)
mrwjinx: Cutting back is one of the worst things you can do, it just makes the withdrawal pangs worse and quitting even harder to achieve. You can find such information in the book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. :D

It looks like you lay on the color so loosely and then it becomes so defined. He's wonderful. :)

1st Place: This entry pretty much exemplifies what I intended to come out of this contest. The muscle tissue is well rendered and appropriately placed. I put together a quick animation to show just how accurate Flubbles piece actually is: Skinless Cloxboy

Contest Week 82: Skinless Portraits
Kloxboy (edited Oct 6, 2008)
Contest Week 82: Skinless Portraits Paint a portrait of someone without skin. Use a photo reference to paint from and be sure to link your photo in your entry description. Do not paint a portrait of someone already missing their skin, not only is that against the rules, it also defeats the purpose of the contest. Thanks to Gigandas for inspiring this contest with his Artnatom post. Below are some facial anatomy websites, they should be helpful: [url:http://www.face-and-emotion.com/...

Some quick and fun stuff.

ref is some random photo I took:
http://bv-design.com/stuff/van_ref.jpg

Colors look completely different because I tried to go for his palette.
Bright spots are mostly yellow, and darker mostly blue(somewhat green, somewhat red). Now that I look at it, it's way too saturated and to start with orange wasn't the best decision.
One key point are the short strokes which flow(don't cross!). Also the strokes are done with a high opacity(and blending activated) to give them the impact they need.
