First time posting here. 2draw.net has been recommended to me by several people, so I thought that I'd give it a try. Must say that I like the Lascaux applet very much.About this, I love Abe Lincoln quite a bit. He's a very difficult personage to capture and I always find myself lacking when I attempt a portrait of him. But I like the challenge. ref photo: http://z.about.com/d/arthistory/1/0/9/g/pa_neh_18.jpg |

Is the disease boredom? Because that one is definitely simple to cure. I absolutely love this.
ChalkDust (Feb 3, 2009)
GrowingArtist: Yeah! It surely does, thanks so much! : )

despite that the subject is a nude-beast, of sorts, it is a remarkable painting and shows your ability albeit accomplished in 9 hours

Tell Bob it's time to draw, don't you think? Merry Christmas.

He's resting on his laurels. And as far as they go, they're fine ones. Personally, though, I hope he starts finding those laurels kind of itchy and uncomfortable soon. |

Eh, might as well. To be honest, I'm quite proud of my results thus far. In my animation class, we're all putting together a minute and a half student film and this first semester was all concept work. So this animatic is the compilation of all the pre-production work I've invested into this project, getting ready for next semester. Hope you enjoy and be sure to choose the high quality option when viewing.

Old family photo

I can see some illustrative qualities in this painting, there seems to be an emphasis on brilliance of color, which a certainly a hallmark of Rockwell's style. Coloring black and white photos is a fun process, I particularly enjoy it myself. Rockwell painted from b/w photos through a good portion of his career, ones that he painstakingly composed himself using neighbors and friends as subjects. The composition in this painting certainly works and fits the subject matter, this was a good photo to paint. The two figures are looking in nearly opposite directions which really opens up the painting. Good work and thanks again for entering.
enjoydotcom (Dec 12, 2008)
Very nice drawing QT it must 've been a true challenge turning a b/w photo into a color painting. I think it is a big pity we were the only two who tried our hand at this contest. Thanks so much for your kind comments clox. Too bad more did not participate.

Wow, that's neat. Beautiful torso, those hips are especially awesome.Noremac: HA!
Mocha_Bean (Dec 12, 2008)
Thanks you guys! =DKlox: I've had a "sudden" obsession with hips. They're my favorite parts to draw other than boobs. More hips.. >_>
GrooveZombie (edited Dec 12, 2008)
I dig the graphic quality to this. The scrambled parts on the figure are interesting, it ties into the background well. Also, hips are grand, both in this piece and in the general sense.

http://enjoydotcom.deviantart.com/art/First-Birthday-85094005Some parts I'm very happy with the outcome, other parts I want to erase and never do again. Not sure if it is Rockwelly enough, probably not, but at the beginning I thought the facial expression was fitting.
ChalkDust (Dec 11, 2008)
Very nice job, great shading. Everything seems to 'pop'
Kloxboy (Dec 11, 2008)
A very cute child indeed. The bold, blue eyes are what drew me in first, they're really district against the slightly warm-toned, white skin. This piece seems to catch that randomness of life and facial expression, she looks like she's in mid-thought, as if something just occurred to her. The painting style is rather bold, I can certainly see some of Norman's influence in that respect. Well done Joyce, thanks again for entering.

I agree with you enjoy. I am very disapointed. Wish more people would participate. But.....it is not a very good season as everyone is probabally terriblly busy. Beuatiful entry by the way....is this you? (I assume it is)

Contest Week 90: Blue Silence Paint something using only a blue color palette (any and all variations of the color blue). The subject of your work should convey silence (in meaning, do not write the word in your painting). No photo references are to be used, just use your imagination. I'm going back to basics with these next few contests, perhaps someday we'll try something a bit more challenging, like the Rockwell contest. I am taking contest suggestions via memo (and only by memo). ...

I at first thought it was a pc. of meat, but then realized it is a grapefruit and done very well. Love the way you've done the skin on it. Your coloring is excellent, lovely work.
mursku (Feb 9, 2010)
hehe, on one hand its awesome how realistic you have managed to make the grapefruit, but on the other hand it makes me sick how the glistening pieces of the fruit look... urgh..anyways, two thumbs up for the awesome display of skill
