My painting does not come from the easel. I prefer to tack the unstretched canvas to the hard wall or the floor. I need the resistance of a hard surface. On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting. I continue to get further away from the usual painter's tools such as easel, palette, brushes, etc. I prefer sticks, trowels, knives and dripping fluid paint or a heavy impasto with sand, broken glass or other foreign matter added. When I am in my painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.

Since the changeover, the response time for the site seems agonizingly slow. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Can anyone tell me who sets the subtitles to the artist's name? I am intrigued by the classifications . . .

I can stand my own ground.
Sweetcell (Oct 2, 2007)
Hooey is good, great light, but his right hand seems off to the overall picture. Still good.
PS (Oct 2, 2007)
Yeah, I didn't work on the hands too much in this one.
Akatsukinocamila (Oct 5, 2007)
I dont need your help now.You will let me down, down, down, down, down. Rise Against is almost as great as this picture. As far as compairing a band to a picture. Your art is amazing! : )

This one....this one right here.

I wish I only had one... issue, that is, and that it could be contained in a single drawing. I like this sketch.
wishuponyou (Dec 31, 2007)
I really like the subtle shading at the nose, chin, neck, chest, and especially behind the ear. I like the sketch quality to it...looks as if you drew it in ballpoint pen then coloured the hair with a slightly dry sharpie. (:

SlimShady97 (Dec 30, 2004)
You made it exactly like Nicole Kidman, although I think her eyebrows are more arched, but I think she looks better this way. I love your impressions of celebrities.

does the individual exist? do stored ideas and memories provide us with a false sense of self and separateness?if you could excise specific parts of your brain, or add to it, would you? which direction would you choose? i am tempted to become a blissful vegetable, tripping out on the happier brain chemicals until i expire. in reality, given the choice i would probably go the other way and become an emotionless processor of information, losing my sense of self to become one with entirety.

Nice. :)
Kloxboy (Mar 16, 2008)
This is a neat drawing, I like the style and the details are especially eye catching. Those are all interesting questions, very existential. Ever notice how some people constantly inflict intangible riddles and musings on themselves and others? They get lost in the intrigue and mystery of it all, and become analytical nightmares. Mind you, I'm not talking about your average inquirer or developing youth, I'm talking about people who think everything exists in the abstract and nothing is certain. They answer questions with questions. They philosophize in a way that doesn't stimulate the brain but only confuses and frustrates it. Those types of people, I tell ya, they drive me nuts. :D

So nice to see you here again. You still over at youdraw? Well your surreal pictures are always welcome and a treat for the eye.
