Gigge (Jun 23, 2004)
I googled this image, but am omitting the link and the name to protect the innocent. It's not his fault the sketch turned out this way.

Do you know the person?
Gigge (Jun 25, 2004)
No, do you?
davincipoppalag (Jun 25, 2004)
Nope..Just wondered because you said you googled it.. I guess I thought you put in a name to get this..
emmamommalag (Jun 25, 2004)
I like it, Gigge. Very nice job on his hair and he has a nice smile that shows in his eyes.

Based on a photo of my cat. Got a little overzealous with the contrast and shading.

Excellent :D I love all the detail in the leaves.. can't wait to see it done
emmamommalag (Jun 23, 2004)
I like this a lot. Nice job on the contrast and shading, Gigge. Pretty cat you have there. :)
Aubrey (Jun 24, 2004)
Very pretty and fluffy cat. I like how half the picture is in the shade and half has all the sun. Good job!
laurael (Jul 1, 2004)
Such a cute cat, this Cleopatra is. She looks very comfortable and content there. The contrast and shadows are done very well...great job. :]

Tried drawing a random person using a frame, http://www.anticz.com/anticz.htm. Not as painful as I thought it would be.

Since I didn't fit all four objects (or even three) on the first draw. I decided to do a part 2.

I'm trying the first exercise from http://www.anticz.com/drawing1.htm. There are supposed to be four objects on here. I'm not sure I can even fit 3....

So, I split the exercise into two parts. These are the first two shapes. Working on the second pair.

This is very nice, it reminds me of folk art or something.
emmamommalag (Jun 17, 2004)
Yes, it does look kinda folk artish. You're doing good so far. Pretty grandma. :)
davincipoppalag (Jun 18, 2004)
She's pretty. You're doing a good job making it look like an old photo.

I don't think it's flat. I think it's pretty good. It does beg the remark " pull my finger" lol...
audie (edited Jun 17, 2004)
WOW! I really like this picture.Hands are really hard to get right and you've captured them beautifully!
cmb (Jun 17, 2004)
I just came to draw- but had to comment- what a lovely picture- are you working from a photograph? fine shading!
Gigge (Jun 17, 2004)
Ooh, yeah thanks forgot to mention....I used a photo from an 'AIDS Relief' site (I think).

First attempt at cliffs and waterfall. When did trees become so difficult?

Not bad Gigge.. the edges need some sharpening, and the cliffs could use some more horizontal elements to break up the vertical striations.. but this is nice..

Thanks for the suggestions, Poppa.
Knockoff (Jun 17, 2004)
Ohh, this is really nicely done.
I love the depth. And the little waterfall is nice.
If you put more detail into each thing (grass, trees) becuase overall you have a lot of detail, but it looks flat in some spots. Still very nice.
emmamommalag (Jun 17, 2004)
That's better, Gigge, now that you've sharpened it up some. It's a very nice picture.

Thanks for the comments/advice on the last draw. I put in a few harder lines on this draw, but I didn't use the anti-alies to do thin highlights. I found that it blurs the line too much and makes the line 2 or three pixels wide. What worked better for me was turning off the anti-alias and blend and using a low opacity and high flow to draw thin highlights. But, thanks for the suggestion!

Ok...i sharpened the bowl slightly, added a touch more definitiion to the glass outline and 'clarified' the base of the glass. Thanks for the hints.
deannak24 (Jun 15, 2004)
fab gigge .....is beautiful nice to see you drawing here as well as in the game
davincipoppalag (Jun 16, 2004)
I think what it is about this is the bg kind of camouflages the glass.. I think with a different bit of color back there the glass would stand out more... its much better as I stare at it.. but that bg hides it...
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
Just browsing yer board....this one is beautiful! I love the blending and colors, especially the contrast between the grey and the wine. LOL....sorry, but I think of things in terms of where I'd like to see them....this would make an absolutely beautiful cover for a wine menu.

Ok....I wasn't going to add any kind of a foreground, but you pushed me into it, Mamma. ;)
laurael (Jun 15, 2004)
Looking at both versions, I'm glad you did add the flowers. They make this look complete now and I wanted to tell ya...nice job!
emmamommalag (Jun 15, 2004)
Yay, Gigge! Very pretty flowers you've added... I like this a lot. :)
